Reproduction in vertebrates is a complex process regulated by many hormones, and by paracrine factors and their receptors. This study aimed to examine the expression of pjGonadotropin-releasing hormone (GnRH 1), the kisspeptin receptor 2 (kissr2), and estradiol receptors α and β (ER α and ER β) during different stages of the sexual cycle and their distribution within the anterior brain of females of Chirostoma humboldtianum. Among these molecules, the kissr2 showed the maximal variation in expression, while GnRH 1 showed minimal variation of expression, and ERβ and ERα had intermediate variation of expression.

CHH participates in the regulation of several mechanisms, including increasing the level of glucose in hemolymph. Although CHH mRNA levels have been quantified and the CHH protein has been localized in various structures of the crayfish P.

However, the presence of CHH in the central brain, another putative pacemaker of the multi-oscillatory circadian system, of this decapod and its circadian transcription in the optic lobe and brain have yet to be explored. Therefore, using qualitative and quantitative PCR, we isolated and cloned a CHH mRNA fragment from two putative pacemakers of the multi-oscillatory circadian system of Procambarus clarkii, the optic lobe and the central brain.
