Objective: To analyze adherence to standard precautions by healthcare professionals and associated factors during the COVID-19 pandemic in Brazilian university hospitals.

Method: Multicenter study, with a mixed approach, with a concomitant incorporated strategy and a sample of 559 health professionals and 53 managers from five university hospitals in Southern Brazil.
