Osteocytes, the most abundant bone cells, form an extensive cellular network via interconnecting dendrites. Like neurons in the brain, the long-lived osteocytes perceive mechanical and biological inputs and signal to other effector cells, leading to the homeostasis and turnover of bone tissues. Despite the appreciation of osteocytes' vital roles in bone biology, the initiation, growth, maintenance, and eventual degradation of osteocyte dendrites are poorly understood due to their full encasement by mineralized matrix.

Chemotherapy agents such as doxorubicin exacerbate the degeneration of aging skeleton and further subject older cancer patients to a higher fracture risk. Objective: Genetic testing for ovarian cancer (OC) patients is essential to consideration of PARP inhibitor therapy. To improve access, we piloted a Genetic Testing Station (GTS) allowing patients to have a same-day genetic testing visit facilitated by Genetic Counselor Assistants (GCAs) under the supervision of Genetic Counselors (GCs).

Objectives: To evaluate the impact of bowel resection at the time of interval cytoreductive surgery on survival.

Methods: We identified patients with advanced ovarian cancer who underwent neoadjuvant chemotherapy and interval cytoreductive surgery between 2008 and 2018 from a single-institution tumor registry. Kaplan-Meier survival analysis and Cox proportional hazards models were performed comparing patients who underwent bowel resection to those who did not.

Bisphosphonates (BPs) are a mainstay of osteoporosis treatment; however, concerns about bone health based on oversuppression of remodeling remain. Long-term bone remodeling suppression adversely affects bone material properties with microdamage accumulation and reduced fracture toughness in animals and increases in matrix mineralization and atypical femur fractures in patients. Although a "drug holiday" from BPs to restore remodeling and improve bone quality seems reasonable, clinical BPs have long functional half-lives because of their high hydroxyapatite (HAP) binding affinities.

Extramammary Paget's Disease (EMPD) is a rare condition of the skin that often involves the vulva, perianal region, scrotum, penis, and axilla. Although prognosis is generally favorable, it can be associated with neoplasms of the bladder, urethra, prostate, and rectum. Background And Aims: Familial adenomatous polyposis (FAP) is an autosomal dominant condition characterized by multiple adenomatous polyps in the colon and rectum that inevitably develop into adenocarcinomas if the patient's colon is not removed in time. To date more than 500 mutations related to the disease have been identified in the APC (adenomatous polyposis coli) gene. The molecular study of FAP families was initially introduced in Cuba with the aim of identifying the asymptomatic carriers of APC gene mutations in each family.
