Background: Malignancy in thyroid nodules is a common clinical problem, and epidemiological studies have shown that it is increasing. Since malignancy is a very important problem in treating patients and misdiagnosis leads to many physical and financial damages, the importance of diagnostic methods becomes more important. Hence, the aim of this study was to investigate the sensitivity and specificity of the two dimensional-shear wave elastography (2D-SWE) diagnostic method in comparison with fine-needle aspiration (FNA) in determining the malignant thyroid nodules.

Article Synopsis
  • The study aimed to assess how accurate magnetic resonance voiding cystourethrography (MRVCUG) is for diagnosing vesicoureteral reflux (VUR) in young patients with recurrent urinary tract infections.
  • Over the course of the study, findings from 30 patients were analyzed, comparing MRVCUG results to traditional voiding cystourethrography (VCUG) results to determine MRVCUG's sensitivity and specificity.
  • MRVCUG demonstrated high accuracy for detecting VUR, particularly for high-grade VUR, indicating it is a reliable imaging method for evaluating the condition in children and adolescents.

Article Synopsis
  • A 14-year-old male with a history of cervical soft tissue primitive neuroectodermal tumor (PNET) presented with headaches and underwent a CT scan.
  • The scan revealed a large extra axial epidural lesion in the right parietal region, leading to surgery and a biopsy that confirmed neuroepithelioma.
  • After diagnosis, the patient received chemotherapy and radiotherapy, remained symptom-free, and had normal follow-up scans two years post-surgery, marking this as the first documented case of epidural metastasis from a peripheral PNET.
