This study aimed to evaluate the causal effects of different immune cells on heart failure (HF) using Mendelian randomization (MR). Datasets for immune cell phenotypes and HF were obtained from European Bioinformatics Institute and FinnGen. Then, single nucleotide polymorphisms were screened according to the basic assumptions of MR.

Tire pressure monitoring systems (TPMSs) are essential for maintaining driving safety by continuously monitoring critical tire parameters, such as pressure and temperature, in real time during vehicle operation. Among these parameters, tire pressure is the most significant, necessitating the use of highly precise, cost-effective, and energy-efficient sensing technologies. With the rapid advancements in micro-electro-mechanical system (MEMS) technology, modern automotive sensing and monitoring systems increasingly rely on MEMS sensors due to their compact size, low cost, and low power consumption.

Article Synopsis
  • This study looked at how adult children help their older parents with diabetes manage their blood sugar using mobile apps.
  • Researchers interviewed 16 adult children to understand their roles and feelings about this task.
  • They found that adult children often see themselves as decision-makers, supporters, and educators, but also face challenges while helping their parents.

Corneal epithelial defects and excessive wound healing might lead to severe complications. As stem cells can self-renew infinitely, they are a promising solution for regenerating the corneal epithelium and treating severe corneal epithelial injury. The chemical and biophysical properties of biological scaffolds, such as the amniotic membrane, fibrin, and hydrogels, can provide the necessary signals for stem cell proliferation and differentiation.

Ventricular arrhythmia is one of the main causes of sudden cardiac death, especially after myocardial ischemia. Previous studies have shown that Chai-Hu-San-Shen capsule (CHSSC) can reduce the incidence of ventricular arrhythmias following myocardial ischemia, however, the mechanisms of it are unclear. In present study, we explored the mechanism of CHSSC ameliorates ventricular arrhythmia following myocardial ischemia via inhibiting the CaMKII/FKBP12.

The responses of forests to nitrogen (N) deposition largely depend on the fates of deposited N within the ecosystem. Nitrogen-fixing legume trees widely occur in terrestrial forests, but the fates of deposited N in legume-dominated forests remain unclear, which limit a global evaluation of N deposition impacts and feedbacks on carbon sequestration. Here, we performed the first ecosystem-scale N labeling experiment in a typical legume-dominated forest as well as in a nearby non-legume forest to determine the fates of N deposition between two different forest types and to explore their underlying mechanisms.
