Clinicopathological study of malignant peripheral nerve sheath tumors in the head and neck: Case reports and review of literature.

Background: Malignant peripheral nerve sheath tumor (MPNST) is a rare and aggressive soft tissue sarcoma that poses a major diagnostic and therapeutic challenge.

Case Summary: We retrospectively reviewed patients with head and neck MPNSTs treated in our hospital from 2000 to 2021. The clinical features, pathological manifestations, treatments, and prognoses were summarized.

Dedifferentiated Central Chondrosarcoma: A Clinical, Histopathological, and Immunohistochemical Analysis of 57 Cases.

Dedifferentiated central chondrosarcoma (DCCS) is a rare cartilage tumor with invasive biological behavior and a poor prognosis. To better understand the morphological characteristics of this type of tumor and its internal mechanism of dedifferentiation, we retrospectively analyzed 57 cases of DCCS. A total of 29 female and 28 male patients were included, ranging in age from 20 to 76 years, with a median age of 54 years.

Identification of New Biomarkers Associated With IDH Mutation and Prognosis in Astrocytic Tumors Using NanoString nCounter Analysis System.

Background: Isocitrate dehydrogenase (IDH) mutations have been reported as biomarkers associated with tumorigenesis and prognosis in gliomas. However, genes affected by these mutations are still under investigation. The purpose of this study is to identify new molecular biomarkers associated with IDH mutation and prognosis in astrocytic tumors, which account for the largest proportion of gliomas.

[The clinical pathological characteristics and follow-up of 4 cases of immune-mediated necrotizing myopathy].

Objective: To characterize the clinical, electrophysiology and neuropathological features of 4 cases with immune-mediated necrotizing myopathy (IMNM).

Methods: We retrospectively analyzed the clinical, electrophysiology, neuropathological characteristics of 4 IMNM patients with muscular and skin biopsy in our department during 4 years (from January 2011 to January 2014).

Results: Among these 4 patients, 2 were men and 2 were women (aged 37 to 58 years) with disease duration ranging from 1 month to 60 months.

Multiple mononeuropathy is an unusual form of peripheral neuropathy involving two or more nerve trunks. It is a syndrome with many different causes. We reviewed the clinical, electrophysiological and nerve biopsy findings of 14 patients who suffered from multiple mononeuropathy in our clinic between January 2009 and June 2013.

Intraneural perineurioma affecting multiple nerves: a case report and literature review.

Intraneural perineurioma is a neoplasm of perineurial cells, corresponding to WHO grade I. We present a case of intraneural perineurioma affecting multiple nerves, which usually involved one or two of major nerve trunks in one patient. We describe the clinical presentation, magnetic resonance (MR) neurography characteristics, and pathological characteristics.

[Clinico-electrophysiological and pathological characteristics of neuropathy in Sjögren's syndrome: a report of 5 cases].

Objective: To summarize the clinical features, electrophysiological and neuropathological characteristics of peripheral nerves in patients with primary Sjögren's syndrome (SS).

Methods: We retrospectively analyzed the clinical, electrophysiological and neuropathological characteristics of 5 female SS patients with neuropathy complications undergoing electrophysiology and sural nerve biopsy at our department from January 2011 to June 2013.

[Mutation of isocitrate dehydrogenase gene in Chinese patients with glioma].

Objective: To investigate mutation status of isocitrate dehydrogenase (IDH) 1 and IDH2 genes in Chinese patients with gliomas in correlation with clinicopathological characteristics.

Methods: Formalin-fixed and paraffin-embedded (FFPE) tissue samples of 234 gliomas were collected including the matched blood samples in 30 patients. DNA was extracted, followed by PCR-Sanger sequencing to detect IDH1 and IDH2 gene mutations.
