The on-surface synthesis of two-dimensional (2D) polymers from monomers represents a useful strategy for designing lattice, orbital and spin symmetries. Like other 2D materials, the ordered stacking of 2D polymers into bilayers may allow developing unique optoelectronic, charge transport and magnetic properties not found in the individual layers. However, controlling layer stacking of 2D polymers remains challenging.

Enrofloxacin (ENR) and atrazine (ATZ) are common co-contaminants in marine environments. Although the immunosuppressive effects of ENR and the endocrine-disrupting properties of ATZ are well established, the combined effects of these pollutants on hepatotoxicity, particularly concerning the regulation of the hypothalamic-pituitary-thyroid (HPT) and gut-liver axes, remain poorly understood. In this study, Larimichthys crocea was exposed to ENR and ATZ at environmentally relevant concentrations, individually and in combination, to investigate the hepatotoxicity.

Jasmonic acid (JA), as a defensive plant hormone, can synergistically or antagonistically interact with common hormones such as gibberellin (GA), abscisic acid (ABA), indole-3-acetic hormone acid (IAA), and ethylene (ETH) during the plant growth process, as well as interact with hormones such as melatonin (MT), brassinolide (BR), and resveratrol to regulate plant growth and development processes such as metabolite synthesis, pest and disease defense, and organ growth. The core regulatory factor MYC2 of JA mainly mediates the signal transduction pathways of these hormone interactions by interacting with other genes or regulating transcription. This article reviews the mechanism of cross-talk between JA and hormones such as ABA, GA, and salicylic acid (SA), and discusses the role of MYC2 in hormone interactions.

Swine influenza virus invades the host through the respiratory mucosa, which severely restricts the development of the pig breeding industry. To construct monomeric and trimeric vaccines, we developed recombinant Escherichia coli Nissle 1917 (EcN) strains that express the receptor binding site (RBS) of the hemagglutinin (HA) antigen from H1N1 swine influenza virus. After the mucosal immunization of mice, we found that probiotics activated CD40 and CD86 in DCs and increased the levels of IL-4 and IFN-γ secretion by T cells.

In situ activation of prodrugs or photosensitizers is a promising strategy for specifically killing tumor cells while avoiding toxic side effects. Herein, we originally develop a bioorthogonally activatable prodrug and pro-photosensitizer system to synchronously yield an aggregation-induced emission (AIE) photosensitizer and a chemotherapeutic drug for synergistic chemo-photodynamic-immunotherapy of tumors. By employing molecular engineering strategy, we rationally design a family of tetrazine-functionalized tetraphenylene-based photosensitizers, one of which (named TzPS5) exhibits a high turn-on ratio, a NIR emission, a typical AIE character, and an excellent ROS generation efficiency upon bioorthogonal-activation.
