Purpose: To evaluate the preclinical teaching effects of digital virtual simulation system applied in window-type veneer tooth preparation of undergraduate dental students.

Methods: In the early clinical exposure of five-year undergraduate students from School of Stomatology, Fudan University, Simodont virtual simulation system and conventional phantom-simulator system were alternatively used in the preclinical teaching of veneer tooth preparation. First, after theoretical training and tests of veneer tooth preparation, twenty-three students were randomly divided into two groups.

Article Synopsis
  • The study aimed to compare the effects of removable dentures created through 3D printing versus traditional casting methods on patients' perceptions and comfort.
  • It involved 80 patients with specific dentition issues, analyzing factors like intraoral tenderness, chewing efficiency, and overall satisfaction after two months of wearing the dentures.
  • Results showed that 3D printed dentures had fewer tender points and higher chewing efficiency, leading to significantly better subjective feelings and satisfaction compared to those made by plaster casting.

Dezocine, a synthetic opioid, introduced in 1970s as an analgesic, was redeveloped for relieving moderate to severe pain by Yangtze River Pharmaceutical Group in China in 2009. To date, dezocine occupies 45% of China's opioid analgesic market. Along with dezocine being a dominated painkiller, a certain amount of research was conducted to elucidate dezocine's action.

Article Synopsis
  • The study investigates the effectiveness of fiber reinforced composite veneers for repairing discolored and defective anterior teeth compared to traditional porcelain veneers.
  • Twenty porcelain and 20 fiber reinforced composite veneer samples were tested for their bonding strength after preparation and treatment, revealing significant differences in performance.
  • Results indicated that fiber reinforced composites exhibited a higher compressive strength at the bonding interface, suggesting they are more advantageous for repairs than porcelain veneers, which cannot be repaired once damaged.

The regulation of mTOR and the dimethylation of histone H3 on lysine 9 (H3K9me2) H3K9me2 by Uhrf1 and the mechanism of autophagy regulation in myocardial ischemia-reperfusion injury (MIRI) were studied and . An I/R injury model was established using the primary mouse cardiomyocytes treated with HO. Subsequent analysis by qRT-PCR, western blot, and immunofluorescence indicated that overexpression of Uhrf1 significantly inhibited apoptosis of the HO-treated cardiomyocytes, reduced expression of apoptosis factors caspase-3 and Bax, and increased expression of apoptosis inhibitory factor Bcl-2.

Purpose: To observe the alveolar height changes of the distal abutments in Kennedy II dentition defect restored with Stern ERA attachment.

Methods: Twenty-one Kennedy II dentition defect patients restored with Stern ERA attachment were observed at the day of restoration and 1 month, 3 months and 6 months after restoration. Digital panoramic radiographs were taken to measure the vertical distances from the distal and the mesial alveolar bone crest to the apical point in the distal abutments and were used to observe and compare the alveolar height changes of the distal abutments.
