R-/S-2-(2-hydroxypropanamido) benzoic acid (R-/S-HPABA), marine-derived anti-inflammatory antiplatelet drugs, were initially synthesised in our group. However, preliminary research showed that R-/S-HPABA were eliminated rapidly because of extensive hydroxylation metabolism of phenyl ring in vivo. To investigate the effects of the surface markers B- and T-lymphocyte attenuator (BTLA) and B7 homologous body 4 (B7-H4) on expression of CD83, and Human Leukocyte Antigen-DR isotype (HLA-DR) that can activate dendritic cells (DCs). Flow cytometry was used to detect the co-expression of BTLA and B7-H4 on myeloid DCs (mDCs) in peripheral blood (PB) and pleural effusions (PE) in 15 volunteers and 20 tuberculous pleurisy (TP) patients. Baculovirus expression vector system (BEVS) has been successfully applied to the over-expression of various proteins, thus providing sufficient materials for vaccine research. Compared to other systems, BEVS has many advantages: baculovirus solely being parasitic in invertebrates, the resultant products conferring high safety to mammalian, high expression level of recombinant proteins, preferable folding for eukaryotic protein, proper post-translational modification required for biological function, suitable for multiple genes co-expression and large-scale production with serum-free culture media. Cyclic helix B peptide (CHBP) is a peptide derivant of erythropoietin with powerful tissue-protective efficacies in a variety of organ injuries, but without erythropoietic effect. However, the role of CHBP in acute myocardial infarction (AMI) and related mechanisms are not studied yet. In this study, we found in a murine AMI model that the administration of CHBP could ameliorate cardiac injury, increase the survival rate, inhibit cardiomyocyte apoptosis, improve cardiac function and remodeling, and reduce the expression of inflammatory cytokines in the serum and kidney tissue both at 24 h and 8 weeks following AMI.
