The aim of this study was to determine the rate of preoperative transthoracic echocardiography in hip fracture patients and to evaluate its effects on time to surgery and length of stay. We conducted a retrospective review of all patients with hip fractures treated at a tertiary referral hospital. Data examined included age, sex, comorbidities, time to surgery, length of stay, fracture type and transthoracic echocardiography findings.
