Background: The University of California, Los Angeles (UCLA)/Charles R. Drew University Medical Education Program was developed to train physicians for practice in underserved areas. Design And Settings: A web-based survey of factors affecting choice of specialty was completed by 668 fourth-year students from 32 medical schools.
Purpose: To estimate the impact of a U.S. inner-city medical education program on medical school graduates' intentions to practice in underserved communities.
