Background: Guidelines recommend clopidogrel use for 6-12 months following drug-eluting stent (DES) implantation and 1-12 months following bare metal stent (BMS) implantation. The role of clopidogrel beyond 12 months is unclear.
Methods: We linked hospital administrative, community pharmacy and cardiac revascularization data to determine clopidogrel use and outcomes for all patients (those with acute presentations and those with stable angina) receiving a coronary stent in British Columbia 2004-2006, with follow-up until the end of 2008.

Background: Coronary angiography remains the most widely used tool for routine screening and diagnosis of cardiac allograft vasculopathy (CAV), a major pathologic process that develops in 50% of cardiac transplant recipients beyond the first year after transplant. Given the invasiveness, expense, discomfort, and risk of complications associated with angiography, a minimally invasive alternative that is sensitive and specific would be highly desirable for monitoring CAV in patients.
Methods: Plasma proteomic analysis using isobaric tags for relative and absolute quantitation-matrix-assisted laser desorption ionization double time-of-flight mass spectrometry was carried out on samples from 40 cardiac transplant patients (10 CAV, 9 non-significant CAV, 21 possible CAV).
The short lifespan of right ventricle-to-pulmonary artery (RV-PA) conduits used in repairs of complex congenital heart defects makes future surgical replacement inevitable. Percutaneous pulmonary valve implantation (PPVI) now offers an attractive alternative to surgery in some patients. The objectives of this study were to examine the pattern of conduit reoperations, the factors affecting conduit longevity, and to discuss the role of PPVI in these patients.

Methods And Results: Transcatheter aortic valve implantation was performed in 168 patients (median age, 84 years) in the setting of severe aortic stenosis and high surgical risk.
The present case demonstrates the percutaneous implantation of a bioprosthetic valve in a patient with severe aortic stenosis. An 85-year-old man with significant comorbidities was determined to be at unacceptable risk with traditional surgical valve replacement. Percutaneous aortic valve implantation was performed, was successful and uncomplicated, with significant clinical and hemodynamic improvement.

He was referred for percutaneous closure, which was performed with an atrial septal defect occluder device. Subsequently, a small residual leak was closed with an embolization coil.
