Objective: To determine if a novel, magnesium-based trigger point infiltration formulation is more effective in treating chronic myofascial pelvic pain than lidocaine-only infiltration.

Methods: This was a single-centre, double-blind, randomized controlled trial of women diagnosed with chronic pelvic myofascial pain associated with trigger points. We compared a novel magnesium-based infiltration formulation with lidocaine infiltration of trigger points and with a control group of participants who were waitlisted for a chronic pain clinic.

Objective: This study sought to evaluate prevalence of regret with the decision to undergo a hysterectomy at a young age.

Methods: A retrospective cohort study was performed at two centres and included patients who underwent an elective hysterectomy for benign indications under age 35, between January 1, 2008 and December 31, 2015. Eligible patients were contacted and completed a validated decision regret survey and patient health questionnaire.

Objective: To estimate the prevalence of bacterial vaginosis (BV) among women attending outpatient gynaecology clinics for insertion of an intrauterine contraceptive device (IUD); and to describe any differences between BV-positive and BV-negative women at one month after insertion with respect to four primary clinical outcomes: expulsion of IUD, pain, fever > 38 ºC, and heavy bleeding.

Methods: We carried out an observational prevalence study between March 2008 and March 2009. Seventy women were each followed for one month.

Background: Plate and screw fixation is a recent addition to the sternal wound treatment armamentarium. Patients undergoing cardiac and major vascular surgery have a higher risk of postoperative arrest than other elective patients. Those who undergo sternotomy for either cardiac or major vascular procedures are at a higher risk of postoperative arrest.

Using subtractive hybridization screening, the methyl CpG-binding domain containing protein MBD3 was identified as being more prevalently expressed in the embryonic brain than in the adult. In this report, we present the mRNA and protein expression patterns of MBD3 in the developing brain. MBD3 expression was detected in neuroepithelial cells of the developing forebrain, and in peripheral tissues such as liver and intestine during late embryogenesis.
