A Comparative Study of Single-Layered Versus Double-Layered Intestinal Anastomosis.

Background: Intestinal perforations requiring resection anastomosis of the gastrointestinal tract (GIT) or the formation and closure of temporary intestinal stoma are prevalent worldwide. This prospective comparative study was done to assess the efficacy and safety of single-layered anastomosis compared to a double-layered anastomosis.

Methods: Patients undergoing intestinal anastomosis with either of these two techniques were observed prospectively for various outcome parameters like time taken for anastomosis, and that for entire surgery, postoperative complications, etc.

Insights from COVID-19 cluster containment in Bhilwara District, Rajasthan.

Background: In March 2020, a healthcare professional from a renowned private hospital, in the textile city of Bhilwara, Rajasthan, reported clustering of cases of pneumonia amongst doctors and paramedical staff suspected to be due to COVID-19. The basis of suspicion was clinico-eco-epidemiologic-radiological findings as, by that time, about 20 COVID19 cases were reported from the state of Rajasthan including a big Italian group of tourists who travelled extensively in Rajasthan, including Udaipur city.

Objectives: The current study presents the field experience of the Central and the State Rapid Response Teams (RRTs) in the cluster containment at Bhilwara.

Carotid Body Tumor Presenting as Parotid Swelling Misdiagnosed as Pleomorphic Adenoma: A Rare Presentation.

Carotid body tumor (CBT) also known as chemodectoma is a rare tumor of neuroendocrine tissue of carotid body and is the most commonly seen jugular paraganglioma. In most cases, it is benign but it can be malignant. Extra adrenal paraganglioma is rare.

Preoperative Ultrasonography as a Predictor of Difficult Laparoscopic Cholecystectomy that Requires Conversion to Open Procedure.

Aim: The present study was conducted to see whether preoperative ultrasonography can be used as a predictor of difficult lapariscopic cholecystectomy or not.

Methods: 50 patients of cholelithiasis, selected from surgical OPD of Rajindra Hospital Patiala, who fulfilled all inclusion and exclusion criteria for the study underwent elective cholecystectomy. Ultrasonography was done pre-operatively on all cases in the same setup and with same probe and patients underwent laparoscopic cholecystectomy in same setup.
