Making Visible the Myths About Cyber-Sexual Violence Against Women: An Analysis of Social Reactions Toward Victims on Twitter.

Cyber-sexual violence is a prevalent and harmful form of aggression committed against women, yet little attention has been paid to the attitudes about cyber-sexual violence. This research therefore aimed to explore the negative attitudes or myths that serve to justify, minimize, and deny the experiences of cyber-sexual violence disclosed by women on Twitter. Using a thematic analysis, we analyzed 4,048 replies to 18 experiences reported on Twitter around the time of the International Day for the Elimination of Violence against Women.

Effective Method for a Graphene Oxide with Impressive Selectivity in Carboxyl Groups.

The development of new applications of graphene oxide in the biomedical field requires the covalent bonding of bioactive molecules to a sheet skeleton. Obtaining a large carboxyl group population over the surface is one of the main targets, as carboxyl group concentration in conventional graphene oxide is low among a majority of non-useful sp3-C-based functionalities. In the present work, we propose a selective method that yields an impressive increase in carboxyl group population using single-layer, thermally reduced graphene oxide as a precursor in a conventional Hummers-Offemann reaction.

Ice-Prevention and De-Icing Capacity of Epoxy Resin Filled with Hybrid Carbon-Nanostructured Forms: Self-Heating by Joule Effect.

In this study, CNTs and graphite have been incorporated to provide electrical conductivity and self-heating capacity by Joule effect to an epoxy matrix. Additionally, both types of fillers, with different morphology, surface area and aspect ratio, were simultaneously incorporated (hybrid CNTs and graphite addition) into the same epoxy matrix to evaluate the effect of the self-heating capacity of carbon materials-based resins on de-icing and ice-prevention capacity. The self-heating capacity by Joule effect and the thermal conductivity of the differently filled epoxy resin were evaluated for heating applications at room temperature and at low temperatures for de-icing and ice-prevention applications.

Climate change and anthropogenic actions are diminishing oyamel fir forests in Mexico, putting pressure on the habitats of monarch butterflies. In the last decade, new colonies outside their usual range have been predicted through modeling and reported by the National Commission on Protected Areas of Mexico.

The Effect of Different Oxygen Surface Functionalization of Carbon Nanotubes on the Electrical Resistivity and Strain Sensing Function of Cement Pastes.

Different studies in the literature indicate the effectiveness of CNTs as reinforcing materials in cement-matrix composites due to their high mechanical strength. Nevertheless, their incorporation into cement presents some difficulties due to their tendency to agglomerate, yielding a non-homogeneous dispersion in the paste mix that results in a poor cement-CNTs interaction. This makes the surface modification of the CNTs by introducing functional groups on the surface necessary.

Analysis of hospitalizations by cardiovascular disease in the population with diabetes in Spain.

Objectives: Diabetes mellitus is associated with a marked increase in cardiovascular disease. In this study, we analysed the prevalence of diabetes mellitus in hospitalised patients in Spain in 2015 and the burden of associated cardiovascular disease.

Methods: By analysing the 2015 minimum basic data set (MBDS) of the Spanish Ministry of Health, we included all patients discharged with a diagnosis of diabetes mellitus.

Derivation and validation of a predictive model for the readmission of patients with diabetes mellitus treated in internal medicine departments.

Objectives: We developed a predictive model for the hospital readmission of patients with diabetes. The objective was to identify the frail population that requires additional strategies to prevent readmissions at 90 days.

Alcohol-Related Victim Behavior and Rape Myth Acceptance as Predictors of Victim Blame in Sexual Assault Cases.

Two studies analyzed the influence of victim behavior, drink type, and observer rape myth acceptance (RMA) on attributions of blame to victims of sexual assault. In Study 1, people higher in RMA blamed the victim more when she accepted rather than rejected the aggressor's invitation to buy her a drink. In Study 2, we analyzed if the effects depended on who offered the invitation for a drink (a friend or aggressor).

Material And Methods: A multicenter cross-sectional study was conducted on patients with hyperglycemia hospitalized in the internal medicine departments of 44 hospitals evaluated in 2 time periods: 2014 (baseline period) and 2015 (postintervention period). More Than a Magazine: Exploring the Links Between Lads' Mags, Rape Myth Acceptance, and Rape Proclivity.

Exposure to some magazines aimed at young male readers- lads' mags-has recently been associated with behaviors and attitudes that are derogatory toward women, including sexual violence. In the present study, a group of Spanish adult men was exposed to the covers of a lads' mag while a second group was exposed to the covers of a neutral magazine. Results showed that, compared with participants in the second group, participants who were exposed to covers of lads' mags who also showed high rape myth acceptance and legitimized the consumption of such magazines reported higher rape proclivity in a hypothetical situation.

Hyperglycemia management in patients admitted to internal medicine in Spain: A point-prevalence survey examining adequacy of glycemic control and guideline adherence.

Aims: Despite the increasing prevalence of hospitalized diabetic patients, there are few studies that evaluate the glycemic control and the rate of adherence to clinical practice guidelines for glucose monitoring and management in the hospital setting.

Methods: Crossover study using one-day surveys of all inpatients admitted to internal medicine wards from voluntary participating hospitals across Spain.
