In this study, we assessed urinary excretion of alpha-actinin-4 (ACTN-4), a cytoskeleton protein and a component of the slit diaphragm, and tight junction protein 1 (TJP-1, or ZO-1), a peripheral membrane protein that forms molecular complexes with actin filaments, in patients with type 2 diabetes (T2D) and albuminuric or non-albuminuric chronic kidney disease (CKD). The current study aimed to elucidate the regulatory mechanisms of the circRNA hsa_circ_0139697 (circSTAG2(16-25)) in BCa and to consider the opportunity of using circSTAG2(16-25) isolated from BCa patient urine as a marker for disease development prediction. The selection of this circRNA was determined by the special role of its parental gene STAG2 in BCa biology. The acoustic force spectroscopy (AFS) tool was recently introduced as a novel tool for probing mechanical properties of biomolecules, expanding the application of sound waves to high-throughput quantification of the mechanical properties of single cells. By using controlled acoustic forces in the piconewton to nanonewton range, tens to hundreds of cells functionalized by attached microspheres can simultaneously be stretched and tracked in real-time with sub millisecond time response. Since its first application, several studies have demonstrated the potential and versatility of the AFS for high-throughput measurements of force-induced molecular mechanisms, revealing insight into cellular biomechanics and mechanobiology at the molecular level.

Arterial dissections, which involve an abrupt tear in the wall of a major artery resulting in the intramural accumulation of blood, are a family of catastrophic disorders causing major, potentially fatal sequelae. Involving diverse vascular beds, including the aorta or coronary, cervical, pulmonary, and visceral arteries, each type of dissection is devastating in its own way. Traditionally they have been studied in isolation, rather than collectively, owing largely to the distinct clinical consequences of dissections in different anatomical locations - such as stroke, myocardial infarction, and renal failure.

Laser processing of dental implant surfaces is becoming a more widespread replacement for classical techniques due to its undeniable advantages, including control of oxide formation and structure and surface relief at the microscale. Thus, using a laser, we created several biomimetic topographies of various shapes on the surface of titanium screw-shaped implants to research their success and survival rates. A distinctive feature of the topographies is the presence of "µ-rooms", which are special spaces created by the depressions and elevations and are analogous to the µ-sized room in which the osteocyte will potentially live.

The structure and transport properties of the new Cellokon-AKH membrane based on animal cellulose obtained from tunic of ascidian were studied. The results of scanning electron microscopy (SEM), FTIR spectroscopy, and the X-ray diffraction data revealed significant differences in the structure and morphology of upper and lower surfaces of this layered film membrane based on animal cellulose. It was shown that the membrane surface is a network of intertwined cellulose fibers, with both denser and looser areas present on the lower surface compared to the completely uniform morphology of the main part of the upper surface.

The histamine content in bioamine-containing cells and the content of NSE cells of the lymph nodes were studied in rats in 40 min and in 2 and 4 h after bone marrow allotransplantation by using the cross luminescence-histochemical method and immunohistochemical method, respectively. Within 2 h after allotransplantation of the bone marrow, a significant increase in histamine content in bioamine-containing cells and an increase in the number of NSE cells in the period were observed. Both APUD and NSE+ cells were found to be heterogeneous by staining and luminescence.

Based on a critical analysis of scientific publications for the last 200 years and on the collected specimens, a complete annotated list of both typical freshwater ichthyofauna of Sakhalin Island, with the inclusion of marine species that can be found in brackish coastal waters, is reported for the first time. The annotated list includes 226 species classified in three classes, 26 orders, 68 families, 29 subfamilies, and 148 genera. For 160 species, information is provided on collection samples deposited in various museums around the world, 36 of which are type specimens.

A set of fentanyl molecules when subjected to vacuum UV atmospheric pressure photoionization (VUV-APPI) in the presence of dopants (ammonia and anisole) shows two major bands in the ion mobility-mass spectrometry (IMS-MS) spectrum corresponding to (a) the protonated fentanyl, [M+H] and (b) a unique [M-74] ion. For the parent fentanyl, the [M-74] ion is at / 262 but, in the absence of ammonia, the product ion is shifted to / 245, corresponding to a difference of NH. Collision-induced dissociations (CID) of the [M-74] ions for the different fentanyls examined here show the pattern of neutral losses, namely NH and HN=CH, and the dominant product ion is at / 84 (shifted to / 98 for 3-methylfentanyl and / 142 and 231 for carfentanyl).

In this study, two strains of the yeast were constructed, one of which produced authentic recombinant human granulocyte-macrophage colony-stimulating factor (ryGM-CSF), and the other was a chimera consisting of ryGM-CSF genetically fused with mature human apolipoprotein A-I (ApoA-I) (ryGM-CSF-ApoA-I). Both forms of the cytokine were secreted into the culture medium. The proteins' yield during cultivation in flasks was 100 and 60 mg/L for ryGM-CSF and ryGM-CSF-ApoA-I, respectively.
