Background: Hemorrhoidal disease (HD) is a common proctologic disease. Dietary and lifestyle play a role in the genesis of the disease or in its progression to more severe forms, although the exact mechanism is still not fully understood. We performed a pilot observational cross-sectional analytical association study to evaluate the possible association between sport activities and HD.

Here we applied a spatial analysis to a large number of records on A. fumigatus azole resistance in the Netherlands to evaluate the relationship of a set of environmental factors with the emergence of resistant isolates and to identify the potential risk areas.

Background: Dietary factors and chronic gastrointestinal diseases are frequent determinants of sexual dysfunctions (SD). Whether inflammatory bowel diseases (IBD) are associated with SD is not well known as well as the role of diet and quality of life (QoL).

Objectives: To evaluate the prevalence of SD in a cohort of IBD patients and assess the role of clinical-demographic variables, adherence to Mediterranean diet (MD) and QoL.

This document updates the "Clinical practice guidelines for the prevention, diagnosis and treatment of obesity" issued by the Nutrition Committee of the Argentine Pediatric Society, published in Archivos Argentinos de Pediatría in 2011. Obesity has a multifactorial etiology. It is recommended to diagnose it taking into account anthropometry, personal and family history, and clinical data that indicate complications (sleep apnea, elevated alanine transaminase and/or glycemia, and other components of the metabolic syndrome).

Local mapping of root orientation traits by X-ray micro-CT and 3d image analysis: A study case on carrot seedlings grown in simulated vs real weightlessness.

Background: Root phenotyping is particularly challenging because of complexity and inaccessibility of root apparatus. Orientation is one of the most important architectural traits of roots and its characterization is generally addressed using multiple approaches often based on overall measurements which are difficult to correlate to plant specific physiological aspects and its genetic features. Hence, a 3D image analysis approach, based on the recent method of Straumit, is proposed in this study to obtain a local mapping of root angles.

A Conservative Technique for Fractured Implant Abutment Screw Retrieval on an Internal Connection Implant: Proof of Concept.

Broken screw removal from the implant connection is a common but challenging process. Several proposed methods and technical solutions may result in unsuccessful removal; thus, a novel, more conservative, risk-free method is proposed as a first attempt. The proposal is to use a silicon restoration holder to be twisted counterclockwise on the dried surface of the broken fragment inside the implant connection.

We aimed to assess diagnostic accuracy of plasma p-tau181 and NfL separately and in combination in discriminating Subjective Cognitive Decline (SCD) and Mild Cognitive Impairment (MCI) patients carrying Alzheimer's Disease (AD) pathology from non-carriers; to propose a flowchart for the interpretation of the results of plasma p-tau181 and NfL. We included 43 SCD, 41 MCI and 21 AD-demented (AD-d) patients, who underwent plasma p-tau181 and NfL analysis. Twenty-eight SCD, 41 MCI and 21 AD-d patients underwent CSF biomarkers analysis (Aβ1-42, Aβ1-42/1-40, p-tau, t-tau) and were classified as carriers of AD pathology (AP+) it they were A+/T+ , or non-carriers (AP-) when they were A-, A+/T-/N-, or A+/T-/N+ according to the A/T(N) system.
