Endometrial mucinous carcinoma of the gastric [gastrointestinal] type (MCG) is a rare, possibly aggressive subtype of endometrial cancer that should be distinguished from its potential mimics, including endometrioid carcinoma (EEC). Herein, we assess the frequency of gastric and gastrointestinal immunophenotypes in EEC without any discernible gastric/gastrointestinal-type morphology. Immunohistochemical analyses for KRT(CK)7, KRT20, CDX2, ER, SATB2, MUC6, PAX8, and HIK1083 were performed on 81 EEC, inclusive of consecutively archived low grade [with (n = 22) and without (n = 47) mucinous differentiation] and high grade (n = 12) cases.

All available tumour slides and/or paraffin blocks from 426 patients with stage I cervical SCC treated surgically with curative intent were collected from 18 institutions and retrospectively analysed. Presence and extent of LVI (focal <5 spaces, extensive ≥5 spaces) were assessed on scanning magnification in large haematoxylin and eosin slide sets in 366 cases.

The addition of immune checkpoints inhibitors to standard platinum-based chemotherapy in first-line setting achieves a durable benefit only in a patient subgroup. Thus, the identification of predictive biomarkers is an urgent unmet medical need.

Current guidelines for prevention recommend risk-reducing salpingo-oophorectomy (RRSO) in patients with hereditary mutations in cancer susceptibility genes. However, HGSC displays extensive genetic heterogeneity with alterations in 168 genes identified in TCGA study, but current germline testing panels are often limited to the handful of recurrently mutated genes, leaving families with rare hereditary gene mutations potentially at-risk.

Brazil figures as one of the protagonists in plastic surgery, however publications are insufficient and very few cases are reported in comparison to other countries. It is a disease with excellent prognosis when diagnosed early and treated effectively, but for this to happen, it is essential that health care professionals and the patient understand its pathology.

In the current technological scenario, Virtual Reality (VR) emerges as a tool and an opportunity for enhancing shopping activities, especially for the fashion industry. This study explores whether using Immersive Virtual Reality (IVR) technologies enhances the shopping experience in the fashion industry compared to Desktop Virtual Reality (DVR).

The authors assess whether, using previously reported FH-associated morphologic features, FH protein-deficient uterine corpus leiomyomas associated with a pathogenic germline mutations of the gene (group 1) are distinguishable from FH protein-deficient uterine corpus leiomyomas without such mutations (and whose FH protein loss is presumed to be attributable to somatic/epigenetic inactivation or other unknown phenomena: group 2). Groups 1 and 2 were compared regarding a variety of clinicopathologic features, including 7 core "FH-associated" tumoral morphologic features: staghorn vasculature; alveolar-type edema; bizarre nuclei; chain-like tumor nuclei; hyaline cytoplasmic globules; prominent nucleoli, intranuclear inclusions, and perinucleolar halos; and prominent eosinophilic/fibrillary cytoplasm.

We looked to identify cases of IDC-P in the Veterans Health Administration (VHA) database and measure associations between IDC-P and pathological stage, BCR, and metastases.
Methods: Patients in the VHA database diagnosed with PC from 2000 to 2017, treated with radical prostatectomy (RP) at the VHA were included in the cohort.
A challenging case of infective endocarditis in a young woman with repaired tetralogy of Fallot and a diagnosis of ankylosing spondylitis is described. Despite the presence of multiple confounding factors, a multidisciplinary approach with the use of multimodality cardiac imaging allowed a correct diagnosis and effective medical treatment. ().

Methods: This is a prospective study including adults with CHD patients undergoing COVID-19 vaccination from January 2021 to June 2022. Data on adverse events, antispike IgG titre, previous or subsequent COVID-19 infection, booster doses, and patients' attitude towards vaccination were collected.
Unlabelled: Acute myeloid leukemia (AML) is a hematologic malignancy metabolically dependent on oxidative phosphorylation and mitochondrial electron transport chain (ETC) activity. AML cells are distinct from their normal hematopoietic counterparts by this metabolic reprogramming, which presents targets for new selective therapies. Here, metabolic changes in AML cells after ETC impairment are investigated.

We analysed Silva pattern of invasion and lymphovascular invasion to determine associations with clinical outcomes in stage IA and IB1 endocervical adenocarcinomas. International Federation of Gynecology and Obstetrics (FIGO; 2019 classification) stage IA-IB1 endocervical adenocarcinomas from 15 international institutions were examined for Silva pattern, presence of lymphovascular invasion, and other prognostic parameters.

Background: real-world data on COVID-19 vaccine safety, immunogenicity and acceptance in adults with congenital heart disease (ACHD) are lacking.
Methods: ACHD patients who were offered COVID-19 vaccination from January to June 2021 were included. Data on adverse events, on patients' attitude towards vaccination and antispike IgG titre were retrospectively collected.
Purpose: The SARS-CoV-2 spread has impacted Healthcare systems. COVID-19 pandemic has had consequences for patients with cancer, being associated with delays in diagnosis, in treatment And follow-up care, increase in overall infection rates and higher mortality. A survey on COVID-19 and a vaccination-questionnaire were developed at different times of the outbreak, to evaluate cancer patient-reported experience measures (PREMs) on the policies implemented to reduce the infection from SARS-CoV-2 and on the timing and methods of COVID-19 vaccination.

Food-derived molecules such as avocatin B (Avo B), a fatty-acid oxidation (FAO) inhibitor, are promising novel therapeutics. The roots of the plants have been historically used in traditional medicine, but isolated bioactive compounds have seldom been studied.

We aimed to determine whether HZTE correlates with outcomes in early stage ECAs and FIGO should reinstate HZTE as a staging parameter in futures updates.
Methods: We retrospectively analyzed 416 FIGO 2009 stage I ECAs from 17 institutions and re-assigned stage using FIGO 2018.
There have been previous reports of neoplasms with the morphology of endocervical adenocarcinoma in situ (AIS) that secondarily involve the ovaries, presumably through transtubal spread, with a smaller subset metastasizing to distant sites. These ovarian metastases have been discovered up to 7 yr postexcision of the endocervical lesion, consistent with the known potential for overtly invasive cervical carcinomas to recur late after primary curative management. Herein, we present a case of a premenopausal woman with a pelvic mass classified as metastatic human papillomavirus (HPV)-associated endocervical adenocarcinoma (p16-block immunoreactive, high-risk HPV positive by in situ hybridization with PTEN loss, ARID1A, and PBRM1 mutations detected by qualitative next-generation sequencing), identified 17.

Furthermore, the geochemical fingerprinting of natural cycles (water, carbon, soil and biota fingerprinting) are influenced by the anthropogenic impact and by the climate change. So, their monitoring is a tool of resilience and adaptation.
View Article and Find Full Text PDFAcute myeloid leukemia (AML) cells have an atypical metabolic phenotype characterized by increased mitochondrial mass, as well as a greater reliance on oxidative phosphorylation and fatty acid oxidation (FAO) for survival. To exploit this altered metabolism, we assessed publicly available databases to identify FAO enzyme overexpression. Very long chain acyl-CoA dehydrogenase (VLCAD; ACADVL) was found to be overexpressed and critical to leukemia cell mitochondrial metabolism.
