Introduction: The subventricular zone (SVZ) represents one of the main adult brain neurogenesis niche. In-vivo imaging of SVZ is very challenging and little is known about MRI correlates of SVZ macro- and micro-structural injury in multiple sclerosis (MS) patients.
Methods: The aim of the present study is to evaluate differences in terms of volume and microstructural changes [as assessed with the novel Spherical Mean Technique (SMT) model, evaluating: Neurite Signal fraction (INTRA); Extra-neurite transverse (EXTRATRANS) and mean diffusivity (EXTRAMD)] in SVZ between relapsing-remitting (RR) or progressive (P) MS patients and healthy controls (HC).
Background: The optimal management of patients with acute ischemic stroke (AIS) due to tandem occlusion (TO) and underlying carotid dissection (CD) remains unclear.
Objective: We present our multicenter-experience of endovascular treatment (EVT) approach used and outcomes for AIS patients with CD-related TO (CD-TO).
Methods: Consecutive AIS patients underwent EVT for CD-TO at five Italian Neuro-interventional Tertiary Stroke Centers were retrospectively identified.
Purpose: The partial volume effect (PVE) complicates PET studies of neurodegenerative diseases, since a decreased F-FDG retention might be influenced by atrophy-related changes of cortical regions. Multiple partial volume correction (PVC) methods have been therefore developed, but their application in amyotrophic lateral sclerosis (ALS) is still rare. Additionally, even if metabolic changes have been established in ALS, no study yet has investigated how these may be influenced by aging and disease course.

However, carotid atherosclerosis (CA) and carotid dissection (CD), the two most common ECL etiologies, are distinct nosological entities. The authors aimed to determine if ECL etiology has impacts on the endovascular management and outcome of patients with TO.

However, the underlying neurobiological mechanisms are still poorly investigated. We hypothesized that older age at symptom onset would have been associated with greater extra-motor cortical damage contributing to worse prognosis, so we explored the relationship between age at symptom onset, cortical thinning (CT) distribution, and clinical markers of disease progression.

The identification of factors influencing hemorrhagic risks can assist in creating appropriate therapeutic algorithms for such patients. This study aimed to investigate the impact of medical therapy on functional and safety outcomes in patients treated with carotid stent placement and mechanical thrombectomy for tandem occlusions.

Method: Amongst the 2008 patients enrolled in the Trevo Registry with acute ischaemic stroke due to large vessel occlusion treated by MT, 22 patients (1.1%) [10 females (45.
Background: Flow-diverter stents (FDSs) have recently gained acceptance for the treatment of intracranial aneurysms, especially for carotid-ophthalmic aneurysms (COAs). However, complications have been reported after coverage of side branches, especially the ophthalmic artery (OA).
Objective: To evaluate, through a meta-analysis, the occlusion rate, and the ophthalmic complications after treatment of COA by FDS.
Background And Purpose: Ruptured blister-like aneurysms (BLAs) are challenging lesions to treat, without any consensus on their management. Few studies have evaluated the safety and effectiveness of flow diverter stents (FDS) for this indication, with promising results. The goal was to evaluate the safety and effectiveness of a delayed (≥5 days) flow diversion strategy for the treatment of ruptured intracranial BLAs.

Safety and short-term angiographic effectiveness of this device have recently been reported. However, long-term angiographic results are lacking.
