Depressive symptoms and their sociodemographic determinants among people living with HIV/AIDS in Bangladesh: a cross-sectional study.

: HIV is a chronic disease with a profound social impact due to its strong ties with sexual and societal stigmatized behavior, such as illegal drug use and sexual promiscuity. Depression is one of the major disabling factors in chronic illnesses. Depression and anxiety disorders are more common among people living with HIV than the non-infected individuals.

A Community-Based Cross-Sectional Study about the Knowledge, Attitude, and Practices of Food Safety Measures among Rural Households in Bangladesh.

Background: Food handlers have been found to play essential roles in transmitting foodborne diseases and can pose a significant public health problem. Our study aimed to assess the knowledge, attitude, and practices (KAP) of food safety measures among the rural households of Bangladesh.

Materials And Methods: We conducted this community-based cross-sectional study among women above 18 years involved with food preparation in rural households of four villages in Bangladesh.

Functional and physical interactions between ERCC1 and MSH2 complexes for resistance to cis-diamminedichloroplatinum(II) in mammalian cells.

Bulky DNA lesions are mainly repaired by nucleotide excision repair (NER), in which the interaction of ERCC1 with XPA protein recruits the ERCC1-XPF complex, which acts as a structure-specific endonuclease in the repair process. However, additional functions besides NER have been suggested for the ERCC1-XPF complex, because ERCC1- or XPF-deficient rodent cells are significantly more sensitive to DNA interstrand cross-linking (ICL) agents such as cis-diamminedichloroplatinum(II) (CDDP) than any other NER-deficient cells and because ERCC1-deficient mice suffer a more severe phenotype than XPA-deficient mice. By using RNA interference we show here that suppression of ERCC1 expression increases the sensitivity of xeroderma pigmentosum group A (XPA)-deficient human cells to CDDP but not to UV.
