[Radiation diagnosis of involutional osteopenia].

160 patients with involutive osteopaenia were investigated. The diagnostic possibilities of roentgenography, magnetic resonance imaging and computed tomography were evaluated. There was determined that roentgenography gives the possibility to determine the common localisation and the expressiveness of the pathologic process.

[Age-related changes in the intervertebral disks based on magnetic resonance tomographic data].

Lumber region of vertebral column was studied in different age people using magnetic resonance tomography (MRF). Intensity of vertebral discs signals and those from adjacent vertebral bodies was evaluated both visually and quantitatively by graphic registration of magnetic resonance signals. Processes of disk dehydration, characteristic for age changes were detected spontaneously as the signal intensity grows smaller.

[The role of magnetic resonant tomography in the diagnosis of primary and metastatic brain tumors].

1035 patients of suspected brain formations have been examined in a low-field magnetic resonance tomography (MPT) study. Various patterns of brain tumors were identified in 772 cases and diagnosis was verified by other procedures. Among the most frequent were neuro-epithelial tumors (157), meningiomas (161) and metastatic lesions (136).

[Magnetic resonance imaging of brain neoplasms].

Magnetic resonance (MR) study of the brain using a low-field imager (0.04 T) was carried out in 1035 patients with suspected brain tumors which were detected and confirmed in 593 cases. The most frequent findings were neuroepithelial tumors, meningiomas, hypophyseal adenomas, and various metastatis lesions.

[Value of electroroentgenography in the diagnosis of skeletal degenerative and dystrophic changes and lesions].

The authors have carried out an electroroentgenographic study of degenerative and dystrophic changes of various portions of the skeleton in 635 patients, 30 of whom had had surgical interventions on the hip joints. The findings concerning the frequency of the occurrence and the peculiarities of the representation of some manifestations of the degenerative and dystrophic changes of the skeleton using electroroentgenography and film roentgenography have been compared. It has been established that electroroentgenography is characterized by a high degree of informativity in the diagnosis of this kind of pathology and the evaluation of the results of its treatment, with its efficacy being, on the whole, not lower than that of film reontgenography.

[Role of direct radiographic magnification in the evaluation of various morphological changes].

Radiograms with direct enlargement of the image were performed by means of X-ray apparatus "PEIC" designed by the firm "Svetlana", Leningrad. The status of the hand bones was studied in persons with posttraumatic bone regeneration, as well as angioarchitectonics of organs in experimental animals. In radiograms with direct enlargement some details characterising the process of ageing in the hand bones are observed more distinctly than in routine radiograms.

[Skeletal characteristics of the hand in cervical cancer].

Under consideration is the status of hand skeleton studied electroradiographically in patients with cervical cancer and in females of the same age without cancer. It is shown that in cervical cancer patients skeleton ageing was less pronounced. The value of electroradiography for determining skeleton age is emphasized.

[Roentgenogrammetry and roentgenodensitometry in assessment of several morphologic changes].

The work deals with the significance of quantitative rentgenological methods in morphological studies. The results of these methods used for estimation of certain developmental changes in the skeleton as well as for estimation of experimental data on the reparation of the bone tissue are analyzed. It is also shown that the quantitative rentgenological estimation of the state of soft tissues is possible.

[Effect of hypokinesia on the development of osteoporosis].

The skeletal changes in the rabbits exposed to a 90-day hypokineisa have been examined. Osteoporosis has been diagnosed using an X-ray investigation which included rentgen-densitometry and rentgen-grammetry. The process involved the thinning of the cortical layer and a decrease of the bone density.
