HLA-DQA1*05 Allele Carriage and Anti-TNF Therapy Persistence in Inflammatory Bowel Disease.

Introduction: Carriage of the HLA-DQA1*05 allele is associated with development of antidrug antibodies (ADAs) to antitumor necrosis factor (anti-TNF) therapy in patients with Crohn's disease. However, ADA is not uniformly associated with treatment failure. We aimed to determine the impact of carriage of HLA-DQA1*05 allele on outcome of biologic therapy evaluated by drug persistence.

Longitudinal tracking of academic progress during teacher preparation.

Background: Given that the ultimate academic goal of many education systems in the developed world is for students to graduate from college, grades have a considerable bearing on how effective colleges are in meeting their primary objective. Prior academic performance informs predominantly the selection and retention of teacher candidates. However, there remains a dearth of evidence linking academic performance with outcomes in teacher preparation or the workplace.

Personality Development during Teacher Preparation.

The purpose of this 3-year longitudinal study was to examine pre-service teachers' personality trajectories as measured by the IPIP Big-Five factor markers during teacher preparation. The relationship between students' personality traits, social desirability, and prior academic attainment was also examined. This 3-year longitudinal study invited participants from the first year of a 4-year undergraduate (UG) pre-service teacher education program, the class of 2017.

A comparison of beers and STOPP criteria in assessing potentially inappropriate medications in nursing home residents attending the emergency department.

Objectives: The Beers (2012) criteria and the screening tool of older persons' potentially inappropriate prescriptions (STOPP) criteria are often used to identify potentially inappropriate medication (PIM) use in elderly patients. The aim of this study is to determine the prevalence of PIM use in nursing home residents (NHRs) aged ≥65 years presenting to the Emergency Department (ED); to compare the Beers and STOPP criteria and to identify the potential role of PIMs in ED attendances.

Setting: The ED of an urban tertiary referral hospital.
