Patterns and Predictors of Recurrence After Curative Resection of Colorectal Liver Metastasis (CRLM).

Background: Our study aims to determine the predictors and patterns of relapses after curative colorectal liver metastasis (CRLM) resection.

Methods: A single-centre, retrospective study of CRLM patients operated between 2010 and 2022 was performed. The site of first recurrence was either hepatic (marginal (≤ 1 cm) or extramarginal), extrahepatic, or both.

Hepatocellular carcinoma (HCC) masquerading as hilar cholangiocarcinoma: An unusual presentation of jaundice.

Jaundice usually occurs in the late stages of hepatocellular carcinoma (HCC). Obstructive jaundice is rarely seen as an initial presentation of HCC, as opposed to cholangiocarcinoma. Various causes of obstructive jaundice in these cases also known as "Icteric HCC" have been described such as tumour thrombi, compression, infiltration or tumours arising from native hepatocytes in the bile duct.

Prognostic Nutritional Index Prior to Rectal Cancer Resection Predicts Overall Survival.

Prognostic nutritional index (PNI) correlates with postoperative complications and survival in colorectal cancers. Separate studies for rectal cancers are not available where the majority have preoperative radiation, operated by minimally invasive approaches and have diverting ostomies.Consecutive rectal resections between October 2014 and December 2017 from a single center were included.
