Article Synopsis
  • Teleoperated Interventional Robotic systems (TIRs) aim to reduce radiation exposure for physicians and improve accuracy, but their adoption is hindered by control interfaces that are not intuitive compared to traditional methods.
  • The research introduces a new control mechanism using an enhanced torque device paired with real-time motion mapping, designed to preserve the tactile feedback and muscle memory that interventionalists rely on.
  • Testing showed a low tracking error with the new interface, and though slightly larger and heavier than traditional devices, it offers a more intuitive solution that could lead to broader acceptance of robotic assistance in medical procedures.

Article Synopsis
  • Measles, a severe infectious disease characterized by fever and rashes, has seen a resurgence in Armenia after being eliminated in 2021, with vaccine coverage declining during the COVID-19 pandemic contributing to the outbreak.
  • Contributing factors include sociocultural issues like maternal education, healthcare access, vaccine hesitancy, and socioeconomic status, which influence immunization rates and disease spread.
  • A collaborative effort from global health organizations and local authorities aims to manage the situation through public education, healthcare system strengthening, and addressing barriers to vaccination in Armenia.

Article Synopsis
  • * Endovascular thrombectomy has emerged as the gold standard for treating acute ischemic stroke with large vessel occlusion, particularly when performed within 0-6 hours of symptom onset.
  • * Recent guidelines suggest that only patients with significant cerebral artery blockage should undergo mechanical thrombectomy, with the choice of treatment potentially including tenecteplase for its advantages over alteplase.

Renal denervation (RDN) is a minimally invasive intervention performed by denervation of the nervous fibers in the renal plexus, which decreases sympathetic activity. These sympathetic nerves influence various physiological functions that regulate blood pressure (BP), including intravascular volume, electrolyte composition, and vascular tone. Although proven effective in some trials, controversial trials, such as the Controlled Trial of Renal Denervation for Resistant Hypertension (SYMPLICITY-HTN3), have demonstrated contradictory results for the effectiveness of RDN in resistant hypertension (HTN).

This study aimed to investigate the operation of a 1000L microalgae-based membrane photobioreactor system in a greenhouse for continuous secondary wastewater treatment using Desmodesmus sp., a green microalgae strain originally isolated from a German sewage plant. The research spanned both summer and winter seasons, seeking to comprehend key trends and optimization strategies.

Transthyretin amyloid cardiomyopathy (ATTR-CM) is a mutation-based genetic disorder due to the accumulation of unstable transthyretin protein and presents with symptoms of congestive heart failure (CHF) and numerous extracardiac symptoms like carpal tunnel syndrome and neuropathy. Two subtypes of ATTR-CM are hereditary and wild-type, both of which have different risk factors, gender prevalence and major clinical symptoms. Timely usage of imaging modalities like echocardiography, cardiac magnetic imaging resonance, and cardiac scintigraphy has made it possible to suspect ATTR-CM in patients presenting with CHF.

Obesity and cognitive decline including dementia and Alzheimer's Disease (AD) affect millions worldwide. Several studies have shown that obese individuals suffer from cognitive decline. Here, we suggest that adiponectin and leptin, protein hormones secreted by white adipose tissue explain the relationship between obesity and cognitive decline.

Individuals affected by autism spectrum disorders (ASDs) exhibit affective symptoms such as enhanced anxiety, which has been seen in rodent models of ASDs as well. Exposure to stress is also known to be anxiogenic. However, the effects of stress on animal models of ASDs remains less explored.
