Background: Diarrhea is one of the most common ailments afflicting travelers with attack rates of 30-40% for medium to high-risk destinations. As travelers' diarrhea (TD) is syndromic and caused by a wide range of pathogens, including bacteria, parasites and viruses, multiplex deoxyribonucleic acid (DNA) extraction polymerase chain reaction (PCR) technology can be useful for determining the etiology of TD pathogens.

Objective: The goal of this retrospective study was to produce clinically relevant and useful data on gastrointestinal illness related to travel identified by culture-independent methods of diagnosis-use of the multiplex DNA extraction PCR platform (BioFire FilmArray GI Panel) and to describe the use of this technology in detection of enteric pathogens.

In 22 patients with heart failure and/or ventricular arrhythmias presumably of inflammatory etiology the results of clinical and instrumental investigation were analyzed and compared to the endomyocardial biopsy data. In the subgroup of patients with left bundle branch block (LBBB) we revealed features indicative of lesser contribution of inflammatory destruction in pathogenesis of cardiomyopathy. The only virus, detected in biopsy samples, was parvovirus B19.

Linear peptides corresponding to fragment 83-98 of the first loop and fragments 168-192 and 171-182 of the second extracellular loops of M2-muscarinic receptor (marker of early cardiac disorders and arrhythmias) were synthesized by Fmoc-SPPS method. By means of computer simulation has been built polypeptide antigen conformational structure that imitates the immunodominant epitope of the 2nd extracellular loop of β1-adrenoreceptor. The sequencing of the moss Physcomitrella patens genome has facilitated studies of the plant proteome. To develop a proteome reference map based on the genome sequence, we conducted 2D electrophoreses of proteins extracted from moss protoplasts, protonemata, and gametophores grown under standard conditions on Petri dishes. On silver-stained gels, depending on the developmental stage of the moss, we resolved from 500 to 600 protein spots that were then excised and digested by trypsin, and 212 proteins were identified by PMF-MALDI-TOF.
