Background: Glucagon-like peptide-1 receptor-agonists (GLP-1ra), such as semaglutide, have emerged as promising treatments, demonstrating sustained weight reduction and metabolic benefits. This study aims to assess the impact of oral and subcutaneous semaglutide on body composition and metabolic parameters in patients with T2DM and obesity.

Methods: A 24-week quasi-experimental retrospective study including adults with T2DM and obesity (BMI ≥ 30 kg/m²) who were treated with either daily-oral or weekly-subcutaneous semaglutide.

To assess the clinical impact of flash glucose monitoring (FGM) systems on fear of hypoglycemia (FoH) and quality of life in adults with type 1 diabetes mellitus (T1DM). Prospective quasi-experimental study with a 12-month follow-up. People with T1DM (18-80 years old) and self-monitoring by blood capillary glycemia controls were included.

Objective: To examine the frequency of severe hypercholesterolemia (HS) and its clinical profile, and the phenotype of familial hypercholesterolemia (FH), in the primary-care setting in a large health area of the Community of Madrid (CAM).

Material And Methods: Multicenter study of subjects with a health card assigned to 69 health centers (Northwest/CAM area). HS was defined as cholesterol ≥300mg/dL or LDL-cholesterol ≥220mg/dL in any analysis performed (1-1-2018 to 12-30-2021); and FH phenotype as c-LDL ≥240mg/dL (≥160mg/dL if lipid-lowering treatment) with triglycerides <200mg/dL and TSH <5μIU/mL.

Background: One of the side effects of anti-estrogen treatments in breast cancer survivors (BCSs), especially with aromatase inhibitor (AI) treatment, is the frequent appearance of vulvo-vaginal atrophy (VVA). We aim to evaluate the efficacy, safety and feasibility of a new type of non-ablative Solid-State Vaginal Laser (SSVL) treatment in BCSs with VVA.

Methods: A total of 30 BCSs with a history of AI use and symptoms of VVA were treated with a non-ablative SSVL (LASEmaR 1500™-EUFOTON)in this non-randomized pilot study.

Background: The immune mechanism involved in the reaction to hydrochlorothiazide, which is widely used to control hypertension, is unknown. The short latency period between the take of the drug and the onset of symptoms suggests immediate hypersensitivity.

Case Report: 63-year-old woman with arterial hypertension who, on three occasions, experienced nausea, vomiting, general malaise, shivering, arthralgias, dysthermic sensation, back pain of mechanical characteristics and mild non-productive cough, as well as fever and chest tightness with increased dyspnea and desaturation of up to 88 %, after taking hydrochlorothiazide.

Background: Eosinophilic esophagitis (EE) is an emerging worldwide disease that mimics gastroesophageal reflux disease.

Objective: Early studies have suggested that esophageal eosinophilia occurs in association with T(H)2 allergic responses, yet the local and systemic expression of relevant cytokines has not been well characterized.

Methods: A human inflammatory cytokine and receptor PCR array containing 84 genes followed by PCR validation and multiplex arrays were used to quantify cytokine mRNA in esophageal biopsies and blood samples.

Background: Delayed reactions with betalactam antibiotics are a very common reason for consultation and a matter of numerous publications.

Objective: To demonstrate that delayed reactions occurring during treatment with betalactam antibiotics are not reproduced in a high percentage of the patients, when making drug challenge. To analyse the characteristics of people showing this type of reaction.
