Objectives: The aim of this study was to establish the concordance between conventional 20 Mhz ultrasonography and an ultrawide-field (UWF) imaging system (Optos California) in the measurement of basal diameters of melanocytic choroidal tumors.
Methods: A retrospective study comparing diagnostic tests was conducted in patients with untreated melanocytic choroidal lesions (either nevus or melanoma) who had undergone both UWF imaging and ultrasonography. Only cases with a clear visualization of tumor borders in both imaging modalities were included.
Purpose: To describe the ophthalmic clinical manifestations in a woman with adult-onset methylmalonic acidemia with homocystinuria, including retinal dimples as a new retinal finding.
Methods: Observational case report of a 25-year-old woman. Clinical manifestations and diagnostic tests are described.
Purpose: Focusing the premature birth and its potential complications, this study analyzes Foveal Avascular Zone (FAZ) measured by Optical Coherence Tomography Angiography (OCTA) and its correlation with the severity of prematurity and neonatal growth.
Methods: A cross-sectional comparative study was performed, involving 71 children school-age with history of prematurity and a full-term children control group. Several variables from the neonatal period were collected, such as Gestational Age (GA), Birth Weight (BW), initial Weight Gain (WG) and Retinopathy of Prematurity (ROP).

Purpose: Adalimumab (ADA) is a systemic biological treatment option approved for the treatment of noninfectious uveitis (NIU); however, up to 40% of patients do not respond to the drug, either in a primary or secondary manner. Here, we evaluated the proteomic profile of patients with NIU who fail to ADA to identify proteins implicated in intraocular inflammation, as well as potential biomarkers for treatment response and novel therapeutic targets.
Methods: Cross-sectional observational study of patients with NIU under ADA treatment for six or more months.

In this work, we study the contributions that different molecular blocks have in the wavelength-dependence of the refractive index in ionic liquids. The ionic liquids chosen for this work are combinations of the bis(trifluoromethylsulfonyl)imide anion with cations based on four different heterocycles with different extents of charge delocalization. The analysis is performed in terms of the experimental electronic polarizability, which is obtained by combining measurements of refractive index curves and densities via the Lorentz-Lorenz equation.

Endotoxin-Induced Uveitis (EIU) model represent a well-known model induced by administration of Lipopolysaccharide (LPS). The aim is to characterize two models of EIU through two routes of administration with novel noninvasive imaging techniques.

Driver mutations can predict the likelihood of disease progression and survival, although the data in the literature are inconsistent. This meta-analysis aimed to evaluate the prognostic significance of driver mutations, including , , , and , in the advancement of uveal melanoma.

Inherited retinal dystrophies (IRD) are the leading cause of legal blindness in the working population. Cystic macular edema (CME) is one of the treatable causes of visual loss, affecting up to 50% of the patients. A bibliographic review has been carried out combining "inherited retinal dystrophy", "retinitis pigmentosa", "macular oedema" and a diagnostic-therapeutic protocol according to the levels of evidence and recommendations of the "US Agency for Healthcare Research and Quality".

Methods: Case report, with ultra-wide field (UWF) retinography, fluorescein angiography (FA), swept source optical coherence tomography (ss-OCT), and OCT-angiography (OCTA). Written informed consent for patient information and images to be published was provided by the patient.

The spine is the third most frequent location for metastatic disease, after the lung and liver. On the other hand, the most frequent bone tumours are metastases and the spine is the main location. A review of the different imaging techniques available, both radiological and nuclear medicine, and the morphological appearance of spinal metastases in each of them is performed.

Optothermal Raman characterization has been a key method to identify the properties of layered materials, especially transition-metal dichalcogenides. This work investigates the thermal properties of suspended and supported MoTe thin films using the optothermal Raman technique.

Construction also demands better and more durable materials, often stone. The protection of these materials requires knowledge of the types of rocks and their physical properties.

However, this aspect results in a significant challenge for defect identification and characterization, as the defect's properties depend on the the atomic environment. This study explores how the environment can influence the properties of carbon impurity centers in hexagonal boron nitride (hBN).

Optical coherence tomography (OCT) in all of them showed macular oedema and a rounded lesion with hyperreflective wall, and fluorescein angiography (FAG) in two of them showed hyperfluorescent perifoveal aneurysmal dilations with exudation. None of the cases showed response to treatment after one year of follow-up, finally being diagnosed with Perifoveal Exudative Vascular Anomalous Complex (PEVAC).

Methods: Retrospective study of 24 patients who underwent vitrectomy and IFT for large MH closure.
In the last decades, personalized medicine has been increasing its presence in different fields of medicine, including ophthalmology. A new factor that can help us direct medicine towards the challenge of personalized treatments is the microbiome. The gut microbiome plays an important role in controlling immune response, and dysbiosis has been associated with immune-mediated diseases such as non-infectious uveitis (NIU).
