Is Bone Marrow Trephine Biopsy Necessary in Multiple Myeloma Patients at Diagnosis?

Multiple myeloma (MM) diagnosis requires ≥10% plasma cell (PC) infiltration in the bone marrow (BM), detected by bone marrow aspiration (BMA) or biopsy (BMB). We evaluated the concordance of these 2 techniques in 189 patients. In 43 cases (23%), the techniques were discordant, 10 due to poor sample quality.

Holding the therapy in CLLp53: mechanisms to achieve durable responses.

Chronic lymphocytic leukemia (CLL) is a common leukemia, mainly affecting the elderly. Originating in the bone marrow, CLL involves the accumulation of B lymphocytes and progresses slowly, though 50-60% of patients will require therapy. At diagnosis, the presence of p53 protein aberrations, such as 17p deletion and TP53 mutation, arises in approximately one out of 10 patients.

Characterization of commercial iron chelates and their behavior in an alkaline and calcareous soil.

Iron deficiency is a common problem for many plants grown in alkaline and calcareous soils. To correct this problem, iron is supplied to plants as chelates. Several iron chelates are sold under diverse trademarks with different characteristics.

Solid phases of tenoxicam.

In this report we describe the preparation and characterization of four polymorphic forms of tenoxicam; they are, three 1:1 stoichiometric solvates with acetonitrile, dioxane, and N,N-dimethylformamide, and an amorphous phase obtained by recrystallization in various solvents. Polymorph IV and solvates with dioxane and N,N-dimethylformamide are reported for the first time in this paper. In addition, three solvates were crystallized in acetone, ethyl acetate, and isopropyl alcohol.
