[Clinical evolution of patients with infection associated with orthopedic devices in treatment with continuous negative pressure].

Objective: To describe the use of negative pressure therapy with (TPNi) and without instillation (TPNs) as adjuvant treatment in the management of orthopedic device-associated infections (IADO).

Method: Analytic observational study of records of patients with IADO managed with TPNi and TPNs with 0.9% saline solution, in patients > 18 years, operated on in 2018-2021.

Timely radiographic detection of developmental dysplasia of the hip in family medicine residents. Educative intervention.

Background: Developmental dysplasia of the hip (DDH) is a complex clinical entity that is usually underdiagnosed, if not detected and managed early, will turn the affected individual into a disabled being, with negative social, economic and emotional effects.

Objective: To determine the capacity for the timely radiographic detection of DDH before and after an educational intervention.

Method: An educational intervention is carried out in family medicine resident, where they are given training on detection in DDH radiographic projections.

Exposición a radiación ionizante en médicos residentes de ortopedia en un hospital de referencia.

Objective: To describe and analyze the exposure to ionizing radiation of orthopedic residents.

Method: A prospective study was carried out to evaluate the degree of exposure to ionizing radiation with a bandage dosimeter placed under the lead apron for medical residents for 10 months. An online survey measured the degree of knowledge about radiation safety.

Evolución clínica de trabajadores con fractura de radio distal Fernández III. Tratamiento no complicado quirúrgico y no quirúrgico.

Antecedentes: Las fracturas de radio distal Fernández III (FRDF III) son una urgencia muy frecuente. Las indicaciones quirúrgicas y no quirúrgicas persisten controversiales, así como el impacto funcional.

Objetivo: Comparar la evolución clínica de los trabajadores con FRDF III, con manejo quirúrgico frente a no quirúrgico, no complicados, en un hospital especializado.

[Fifty years of services of biomedical information in health documentation centers in Puebla, Mexico].

Librarian and information services focused on supporting research, teaching, and health care are vital for the generation of new knowledge and its application in health care, both by staff and students, helps to improve the quality of medical care. Therefore, in this article we expose an historical and social tour of 50 years of the Instituto Mexicano del Seguro Social's library services in Puebla. From 1964 to 2014 occurred many events in the development of these services in our area, from the creation of a small space in the basement, to the implementation of spaces created deliberately to provide dignified service to all users, which is why this historical sketch is here as an acknowledgement to the first librarians who contributed to the training of specialists in Mexico.

[Spinal tuberculosis: experience in a third level medical facility in Puebla, Mexico].

Background: Pott's disease or spinal tuberculosis (STB) is a serious infectious disease, caused by the migration of the bacterium Mycobacterium tuberculosis to the spine. Knowing this disease is a priority for all the physicians. The objective was to show the experience in patients with STB treated in a third level hospital in Puebla, Mexico.

[Direct cost of primary care of mild traumatic brain injury in adults by GRD in third level of care].

Objective: To describe the direct cost of primary health care for patients with mild traumatic head injury in a third level medical facility.

Design: Cross-sectional study in 219 patients with mild traumatic brain injury (GRD 090 S06.0 ICD-10 including uncomplicated concussion without complication and increased comorbidity).

[Evaluation of patients with humeral midshaft fractures treated with DCP plate vs. intramedullary nail UHN].

Background: Humeral midshaft fractures should be surgically managed, so the knowledge of functionality, bone healing and pain of these treatments is required to obtain the expected results. The aim of this paper is to compare the results of patients with humeral midshaft fracture operated with intramedullary nails UHN vs. DCP plate.

[Functional and radiological evaluation of patients with midshaft clavicle fracture surgically treated].

Background: Functional and radiographic evaluation at midshaft clavicle fractures is better with surgical than conservative management. The aim of this paper is to describe the functional and radiological evaluation of patients with midshaft clavicle fracture surgery at the Hospital de Traumatología y Ortopedia of the Instituto Mexicano del Seguro Social.

Methods: Descriptive studies, conducted during the period June 2014 to June 2015, patients undergoing surgical treatment for midshaft clavicle fracture were included.

Introduction: Epilepsy has a high impact on the quality of life of the child, so it is important to have validated and consistent instruments to evaluate it.

Aim: To compare the validity and reliability of a new quality of life scale for paediatric epileptic patients (ECAVIPEP) from a Mexican hospital against the widely validated CAVE scale.

Patients And Methods: A comparative study was conducted to test the validity and realiability of a new scale for evaluating epilepsy in children.

[Clinical analysis of 200 cases of idiopathic thrombocytopenic purpura].

Background: Idiopathic thrombocytopenic purpura is characterized by extravasation of blood into the subcutaneous tissue, mucous membranes or skin; it generates bleeding manifestations as ecchymotic lesions, petechiae of sudden onset, epistaxis, bleeding from the gums, and serious complications such as intracranial hemorrhage. This condition is due to a platelet destruction mediated by antibodies directed against the surface of the platelets. The objective is to present the clinical characteristics of patients with idiopathic thrombocytopenic purpura in a third level medical facility in Puebla, México.

[Clinical results of hallux valgus minimally surgery].

Introduction: Hallux valgus is a frequent cause of pain, mainly in female population, characterized by deformity of the foot and important functional consequences. Open surgical techniques require relatively extensive incisions. Recently we see a tendency to use less invasive techniques with shorter hospitalization periods and better recovery.
