Light induced release of cisplatin from Pt(IV) prodrugs is a promising tool for precise spatiotemporal control over the antiproliferative activity of Pt-based chemotherapeutic drugs. A combination of light-controlled chemotherapy (PACT) and photodynamic therapy (PDT) in one molecule has the potential to overcome crucial drawbacks of both Pt-based chemotherapy and PDT via a synergetic effect. Herein we report green-light-activated Pt(IV) prodrug GreenPt with BODIPY-based photosentitizer in the axial position with an incredible high light response and singlet oxygen generation ability.

High levels in food can lead to the development of antimicrobial resistance in humans, so it is important to monitor its levels in food. In the context of legal proceedings, it is frequently necessary to re-examine samples after an extended period of time.

The approach involves the use of the optimization function for establishing the optimal irradiation dose range for each category of plant and animal product to maximize the suppression of targeted pathogens while preserving the surrounding molecules and biological structures. The proposed function implies that pathogens found in the product can be efficiently suppressed provided that irradiation is performed with the following criteria in mind: a high irradiation dose uniformity, a high probability of irradiation hitting pathogens and controlled heterogeneity of radiobiological sensitivity of pathogens.

This study demonstrates how modification of the electronic nature of ligands through the incorporation of diverse functional groups affects the luminescence properties of their complexes. The introduction of various substituents leads to the appearance of intra-ligand or ligand-to-ligand charge transfer (CT) states.

GC/MS analysis revealed that immediately after irradiation, the chemical yield and accumulation rate of lipid oxidation-derived aldehydes was higher than that of protein oxidation-derived aldehydes.

In this work, an approach was applied, consisting of the conjugation of a peptide related to the sequences of bactenecin 7 (Bac7) and oncocin (Onc112) with the alkyl(triphenyl)phosphonium (alkyl-TPP) fragment in order to improve the properties of the AMP and introduce new ones, expand the spectrum of antimicrobial activity, and reduce the inhibitory effect on the eukaryotic translation process. Triphenylphosphonium (TPP) derivatives of a decapeptide RRIRPRPPYL were synthesized.

Tritium was used as a labeling agent to trace labeled compound concentration in a system of two immiscible liquids and in the atomic form to determine the possible position of the binding site. Co-adsorption of protein and drug at the liquid-liquid interface was analyzed by scintillation phase method that allowed us to directly determine the amount of protein and drug in the mixed adsorption layer.

This study suggests that the concentration of hemoglobin derivatives can be used as a criterion for establishing the limit for chilled beef irradiation at which irradiation-induced oxidation becomes irreversible. The express spectrophotometry method for estimating the hemoglobin derivative concentration shows a nonlinear increase in methemoglobin concentration from 15% to 50% in beef irradiated by accelerated electrons with the doses ranging from 250 Gy to 10,000 Gy.

In the production of herbal drugs, different plant parts of the same or related species can serve as adulterants for primary plant material. The use of highly informative and relatively easily accessible tools, such as liquid chromatography and low-resolution mass spectrometry, helps to solve these tasks by means of fingerprint analysis.
View Article and Find Full Text PDFOmics approaches in plant analysis find many different applications, from classification to new bioactive compounds discovery. Metabolomics seems to be one of the most informative ways of describing plants' phenotypes, since commonly used methods such as liquid chromatography-mass spectrometry (LC-MS) and nuclear magnetic resonance spectroscopy (NMR) could provide a huge amount of information about samples. However, due to high efficiency, many disadvantages arise with the complexity of the experimental design.

The use of standard mixtures or secondary standards is a possible alternative in this case. Earlier, an approach known as standardised reference extract (RE) strategy was introduced for HPLC-UV analysis of different plant materials; however, its application in HPLC-MS analysis has not been investigated.

In critically ill patients, the drug pharmacokinetics changes significantly, and as a result, the antibiotic concentrations in blood and infection foci become suboptimal, which leads to therapeutic failures or toxic manifestations. For timely dosage adjustments, a competitive ELISA-based method using antibodies to polymyxin В (PMB) was developed.
