pneumonia (PCP) is an opportunistic fungal infection associated with human immunodeficiency virus (HIV) infection as an acquired immunodeficiency syndrome (AIDS)-defining illness. The PCP incidence in patients with HIV has declined over the last few decades due to effective antiretroviral therapy and prophylaxis.
