Colorectal cancer is the third most diagnosed cancer and the second leading cause of death. The use of 5-fluorouracil (5-FU) has been the major chemotherapeutic treatment for colorectal cancer patients. However, the efficacy of 5-FU is limited by drug resistance, and bone marrow toxicity through high-level expression of thymidylate synthase, justifying the need for improvement of the therapeutic index.

An inclusion complex of isoniazid-grafted phthalocyanine with gamma-cyclodextrin (Complex) was co-encapsulated with rifampicin (RIF) in crude soybean lecithin liposomes using a heating method. The encapsulation efficiency (%EE) of the Complex-RIF co-loaded liposomes (Rif-Complex-Lips) was determined using UV-Vis spectrophotometry. Rif-Complex-Lips formulations were evaluated using dynamic light scattering, transmission electron microscopy (TEM), H-NMR, absorption and emission spectroscopy.

Materials And Methods: Thirty pilot scale batches of cream formulations were manufactured using a Wintech® cream/ointment plant.
A rapid, simple, stability-indicating forced degradation study of clobetasol 17-propionate was conducted using RP-HPLC. The method was used to analyze clobetasol 17-propionate in methanol, propylene glycol, and a cream formulation. Isocratic elution of clobetasol and its degradation products was achieved using a Nova-Pak® 4 μm C18 150 mm × 3.
