Background: Men with pathogenic BRCA1/2 variants are at higher risk of prostate cancer We included men with likely pathogenic/pathogenic (LP/P) variants in BRCA1/2 in a prostate-specific antigen (PSA) screening program after cascade germline testing since 2014. PSA was tested yearly and an age-specific low PSA threshold for biopsy was used, to determine if a low PSA threshold for biopsy is justified for men with pathogenic BRCA1/2 variants.

Methods: From 2014 to 2023 a total of 340 men were included in the program.

Pathogen sequencing during the COVID-19 pandemic has generated more whole genome sequencing data than for any other epidemic, allowing epidemiologists to monitor the transmission and evolution of SARS-CoV-2. However, large parts of the world are heavily underrepresented in sequencing efforts, including the Caribbean islands. We performed genome sequencing of SARS-CoV-2 from upper respiratory tract samples collected in Haiti during the spring of 2020.

Epidemiology of men with synchronous metastatic prostate cancer diagnosis - A nationwide 26-year temporal analysis.

Background: Evolving imaging modalities, increased awareness, and prostate-specific antigen testing in men with synchronous metastatic prostate cancer (mHSPC) are expected to have prolonged survival. Here we analyze trends in survival among men diagnosed with synchronous metastatic prostate cancer in Denmark.

Methods: Here, we included all men diagnosed with mHSPC (N = 12,017) in Denmark between January 1st, 1995, and December 31st, 2021.

Training and education of operating room nurses in robot-assisted surgery: a systematic review.

Background: With the introduction of robot-assisted surgery, the role and responsibility of the operating room nurses have been expanded. The surgical team for robotic-assisted surgery depends on the ability of the operating room nurses to operate and handle the robotic system before, during, and after procedures. However, operating room nurses must acquire the necessary competencies for robotic-assisted surgery.

Methods: This population-based analysis includes data on all men in Denmark who underwent primary cBx or standalone systematic (sBx) prostate biopsy between 2012 and 2016. Biopsy results were compared to RP pathology if performed within a year.

In clinical studies and animal models, antibodies directed toward NA reduced disease severity and viral load; however, the impact of vaccine-induced NA immunity on airborne transmission of influenza A viruses is not well characterized.

Background: One-fourth of men older than 70 years have lower urinary tract symptoms (LUTS) that impair their quality of life. Transurethral resection of the prostate (TURP) is considered the gold standard for surgical treatment of LUTS caused by benign prostatic hyperplasia (BPH) that cannot be managed conservatively or pharmacologically. However, TURP is only an option for patients fit for surgery and can result in complications.

Automated performance metrics and surgical gestures: two methods for assessment of technical skills in robotic surgery.

The objective of this study is to compare automated performance metrics (APM) and surgical gestures for technical skills assessment during simulated robot-assisted radical prostatectomy (RARP). Ten novices and six experienced RARP surgeons performed simulated RARPs on the RobotiX Mentor (Surgical Science, Sweden). Simulator APM were automatically recorded, and surgical videos were manually annotated with five types of surgical gestures.

Here, we demonstrate the expression of the receptor for Luteinizing hormone (LH) and human choriogonadotropin (hCG), LHCGR, in human kidney tissue, suggesting a potential influence on calcium homeostasis. To investigate the role of LHCGR agonist on calcium homeostasis in vivo, we conducted studies in male mice and human subjects.

Introduction: High-intensity focused ultrasound (HIFU) is regarded as a promising alternative treatment option for localized prostate cancer (PCa) as it has been proposed to offer similar oncologic control to the standard of care, but with significantly reduced treatment-related side effects. This systematic literature review assesses the available evidence of whole-gland HIFU as primary treatment for localized PCa.

Methods: MEDLINE (PubMed) was searched for studies investigating oncological and functional outcomes following whole-gland HIFU as primary treatment for localized PCa.

Surgical Complications Following Renal Transplantation in a Large Institutional Cohort.

Background: Successful renal transplantation (RTx) relies on immunosuppression and an optimal surgical course with few surgical complications. Studies reporting the postoperative complications after RTx are heterogeneous and often lack systematic reporting of complications. This study aims to describe and identify postoperative short-term and long-term complications after RTx in a large institutional cohort and identify risk factors for a complicated surgical course.

No studies have reported on the impact at team level of the Medtronic Hugo RAS system. We described the work patterns and learning curves of an experienced robotic nurse team adapting to the new robotic system. We prospectively recorded the robotic nurse team's preoperative, perioperative, and postoperative tasks on the first 30 robotic procedures performed.
