  • By 2007, an international group of nursing informatics professionals from various countries began working together to validate the I-HIT Scale.
  • So far, teams have confirmed the survey's construct and face validity, and five out of six teams have started testing its reliability with practicing nurses.

One of role of the nurse in the clinical setting is that of co-ordinating communication across the healthcare team. On a daily basis nurses interact with the person receiving care, their family members, and multiple care providers thus placing the nurse in the central position with access to a vast array of information on the person. Through this nurses have historically functioned as "information repositories".
