Hippocrepis fuelleborni (Digenea: Notocotylidae) from Argentina, morphological, molecular and phylogenetic studies.

Notocotylidae is a family with a cosmopolitan distribution, with 13 genera parasitizing birds and mammals. Four of these genera were registered in the Americas, and two parasitizing rodents in Argentina. In this paper, specimens of the genus Hippocrepis parasitizing Holochilus brasiliensis from Argentina are studied on the basis of morphological and molecular characteristics.

Low impact development (LID) are prominent type of vegetated stormwater infrastructure that provides various ecosystem services, such as biodiversity, carbon storage, and improvement in air quality. This study investigated six LID technologies to assess SOC retention and factors influencing accumulation. Soil samples (0-20 cm depth) were analyzed using the Walkley-Black method, specifically focusing on wet oxidation.

3D-printed tooth reduction guide for minimally invasive veneer preparations. A case report.

Aim: Current CAD/CAM techniques allow clinicians to design and 3D print tooth reduction guides that facilitate controlled preparations in the esthetic zone. The present case report describes the workflow for designing and printing a tooth reduction guide intended to assist ceramic veneer preparations. This 3D-printed guide divides the facial surface of the teeth into four areas and allows the measuring of all areas, including the incisal edge, with a periodontal probe.

3D Printed Dual Reduction Guide: A Feasible Alternative for Conservative Gingivectomy and Minimally Invasive Preparation for Ceramic Veneers.

Objectives: This case report describes a digital workflow for designing and 3D printing a guide with the dual purpose of gingivectomy and tooth preparation in the esthetic zone, to be followed by cementation of ceramic veneers under rubber dam isolation.

Clinical Considerations: The patient's primary concern was to improve her smile. After clinical evaluation, our recommendation was for a minimal gingivectomy to match the gingival zenith for both central incisors, to be followed by ceramic laminate veneers.

EphB2 Signaling Is Implicated in Astrocyte-Mediated Parvalbumin Inhibitory Synapse Development.

Impaired inhibitory synapse development is suggested to drive neuronal hyperactivity in autism spectrum disorders (ASD) and epilepsy. We propose a novel mechanism by which astrocytes control the development of parvalbumin (PV)-specific inhibitory synapses in the hippocampus, implicating ephrin-B/EphB signaling. Here, we utilize genetic approaches to assess functional and structural connectivity between PV and pyramidal cells (PCs) through whole-cell patch-clamp electrophysiology, optogenetics, immunohistochemical analysis, and behaviors in male and female mice.

Three Dimensional-Printed Gingivectomy and Tooth Reduction Guides Prior Ceramic Restorations: A Case Report.

Computer-aided design and computer-aided manufacturing (CAD/CAM) dentistry have significantly changed workflows in recent years. Restorations and devices can now be digitally designed and 3D-printed for dental care purposes. This clinical case report provides straightforward protocols for the digital design and 3D manufacture of gingivectomy and tooth preparation guides.

Implementing an Antimicrobial Stewardship Program in an Oncology Center in Lima, Peru: A Model for Low- and Middle-Income Countries.

Our center launched the first antimicrobial stewardship program in Peru. From 2016 to 2023, the proportion of antimicrobial prescriptions audited increased from 60% to 95%, and 65% to 95% of recommendations were accepted. Vancomycin and meropenem use dropped by 95% and 84%, respectively.

Integrated photon pairs source in silicon carbide based on micro-ring resonators for quantum storage at telecom wavelengths.

We present the design of an on-chip integrated photon pair source based on Spontaneous Four Wave Mixing (SFWM), implemented on a ring resonator in the 4H Silicon Carbide On Insulator (4H-SiCOI) platform, compatible with a solid state quantum memory in the telecommunications band. Through careful engineering of the waveguide dispersion and micro-ring resonator dimensions, we found solutions where the signal photons are emitted at 1536.48 nm with a bandwidth of MHz, enabling the interaction with the hyperfine structure of Er ions.

Sleep debt accumulates during wakefulness, leading to increased slow wave activity (SWA) during sleep, an encephalographic marker for sleep need. The use-dependent demands of prior wakefulness increase sleep SWA locally. However, the circuitry and molecular identity of this "local sleep" remain unclear.

Cardiometabolic Characteristics of Obesity Phenotypes in Persons With HIV.

Background: In the general population, it is established that adipose tissue depots pose various risks for cardiometabolic diseases. The interaction among obesity, HIV, and antiretroviral treatment promotes even greater risk for persons with HIV (PWH). As obesity is a heterogeneous condition, determining the specific obesity phenotypes present and their characteristics is critical to personalize care in PWH.

Background & Aims: Recurrent primary biliary cholangitis (rPBC) develops in approximately 30% of patients and negatively impacts graft and overall patient survival after liver transplantation (LT). There is a lack of data regarding the response rate to ursodeoxycholic acid (UDCA) in rPBC. We evaluated a large, international, multi-center cohort to assess the performance of PBC scores in predicting the risk of graft and overall survival after LT in patients with rPBC.

Effect of preparation design and endodontic access on fracture resistance of zirconia overlays in mandibular molars: An in vitro study.

Purpose: To evaluate the fracture resistance of zirconia overlays, considering various preparation designs and the presence of endodontic access.

Materials And Methods: Ninety translucent zirconia (5Y-PSZ) overlay restorations were divided into six groups (n = 15/group) based on different preparation designs, with and without endodontic access: chamfer margin 4 mm above the gingival level without (group 1) and with endodontic access (group 2); margin 2 mm above the gingival level without (group 3) and with endodontic access (group 4); overlay with no chamfer margin without (group 5) and with endodontic access (group 6). Restorations were bonded to mandibular first molar resin dies, and the groups with endodontic access were sealed with flowable resin composite.

[Effectiveness of strategies to increase adherence to colorectal cancer screening: a systematic review].

Introduction: Coverage for colorectal cancer screening in Argentina is very low. The objective of this review is to assess and synthesize the evidence on the effectiveness of strategies aimed at increasing adherence to colorectal cancer screening among healthcare personnel and the general population at average risk.

Methods: A review of systematic reviews (SRs) that evaluated the effectiveness of these strategies was conducted.

[Barriers and facilitators of colorectal cancer screening access].

Introduction: Colorectal cancer (CRC) is a global health problem. In the public sector of Bahía Blanca, CRC screening is opportunistic, through the request of fecal occult blood test (FOBT). The objective of this study is to describe access to CRC screening for the population with exclusive public coverage residing in the programmatic area 2 of the city between 2019 and 2021, and to identify the barriers and facilitators that determine it.

miRNAs as Interconnectors between Obesity and Cancer.

Obesity and cancer are a concern of global interest. It is proven that obesity may trigger the development or progression of some types of cancer; however, the connection by non-coding RNAs has not been totally explored. In the present review, we discuss miRNAs and lncRNAs dysregulation involved in obesity and some cancers, shedding light on how these conditions may exacerbate one another through the dysregulation of ncRNAs.

The consumption of animal products is associated with plasma levels of alpha-aminoadipic acid (2-AAA).

Background And Aims: The cardiometabolic disease-associated metabolite, alpha-aminoadipic acid (2-AAA) is formed from the breakdown of the essential dietary amino acid lysine. However, it was not known whether elevated plasma levels of 2-AAA are related to dietary nutrient intake. We aimed to determine whether diet is a determinant of circulating 2-AAA in healthy individuals, and whether 2-AAA is altered in response to dietary modification.

Disease flares with baricitinib dose reductions and development of flare criteria in patients with CANDLE/PRAAS.

Objectives: Patients with chronic atypical neutrophilic dermatosis with lipodystrophy and elevated temperature/proteasome-associated autoinflammatory syndrome (CANDLE/PRAAS) respond to the janus kinase inhibitor 1/2 inhibition with baricitinib at exposures higher than in rheumatoid arthritis. Baricitinib dose reductions to minimise exposure triggered disease flares which we used to develop 'flare criteria'.

Methods: Of 10 patients with CANDLE/PRAAS treated with baricitinib in an open-label expanded-access programme, baricitinib doses were reduced 14 times in 9 patients between April 2014 and December 2019.

Background/objective: Autism has been investigated through traditional emotion recognition paradigms, merely investigating accuracy, thereby constraining how potential differences across autistic and control individuals may be observed, identified, and described. Moreover, the of emotional facial expression information for social functioning in autism is of relevance to provide a deeper understanding of the condition.

Method: Adult autistic individuals ( = 34) and adult control individuals ( = 34) were assessed with a social perception behavioral paradigm exploring facial expression predictions and their impact on social evaluation.
