Bulk electrical impedance spectroscopy (bio-capacitance) probes, hold significant promise for real-time cell monitoring in bioprocesses. Focusing on Chinese hamster ovary (CHO) cells, we present a sensitivity analysis framework to assess the impact of cell and culture properties on the complex permittivity spectrum, ε, and its associated parameters, permittivity increment, Δε, critical frequency, f, and Cole-Cole parameter, α, measured by bio-capacitance probes. Our sensitivity analysis showed that Δε is highly sensitive to cell size and concentration, making it suitable for estimating biovolume during the exponential growth phase, whereas f provides information about cumulative changes in cell size, membrane permittivity, and cytoplasm conductivity during the transition to death phase.

The introduction of advanced imaging technologies, notably Reflectance Transformation Imaging (RTI), has now precipitated a re-evaluation of these artifacts, uncovering nuanced depictions of fishing practices previously unrecorded for the Upper Palaeolithic. Our investigation harnesses RTI to elucidate fine engraving details on the plaquettes, revealing depictions of fish and accompanying grid motifs.

Methods: This mixed-methods observational study nested within LEARNING WISDOM included caregivers of older patients who experienced an ED care transition.
Objectives: The efficacy of interventions targeting lifestyle habits, particularly dietary habits, among postpartum women is well established. However, whether these results can be translated into tangible changes in the care and services provided to this population remains unclear. Therefore, the aim is to examine the implementation outcomes of postpartum nutritional interventions delivered in healthcare, community, or eHealth settings.

While informative, the FSTRA's 5-6 week duration makes it difficult to use routinely. Prior studies have shown that EDCs' impact on fecundity, vitellogenin (VTG) and steroid levels can be detected after less than 1 week of exposure suggesting the FSTRA could be shortened.

Parents are among the most influential factors in adolescents' lives. This study examined the associations between parents' own civic participation, their negative beliefs toward youth CE and their child's future CE.

Objective: Endocannabinoids and their -acyl-ethanolamines (NAEs) and 2monoacyl-glycerols (2-MAGs) congeners are involved in the central and peripheral regulation of energy homeostasis, they are present in human milk and are associated with obesity. Infants exposed to gestational diabetes mellitus (GDM) are more likely to develop obesity. The objective of this cross-sectional study is to compare the profile of eCBome mediators in milk of women with gestational diabetes (GDM+) and without (GDM-) and to assess the association with offspring growth.

In this context, monitoring youth dietary intakes adequately with valid tools is important to develop efficient interventions and identify groups that are more at risk of inadequate intakes. This study aimed to assess the relative validity of the self-administered web-based 24-h dietary recall (R24W) for evaluating energy and nutrient intakes among active adolescents.

SEL is now widely practiced in the United States as a Tier 1 strategy for the entire student body, yet it remains unclear whether disparities exist in the development of SEC across socio-culturally classified subgroups of students. Also, despite the field's widespread concern about teacher bias in assessing SEC within diverse student bodies, little evidence is available on the measurement invariance of the SEC assessment tools used to explore and facilitate SEC development.

The gold standard to assess this behavior is a laboratory-based protocol, but a questionnaire to assess EAH more efficiently in children and adolescents has been developed and validated in English. We assessed construct validity (structural and convergent validity) and reliability (internal consistency and temporal stability) of a French translation of the EAH Questionnaire for Children and Adolescents among French-Canadian youths.

Objectives: The primary objective was to assess the alignment of the 2019 Canada's Food Guide (CFG) with the EAT-Lancet diet. To do so, an index assessing adherence to the EAT-Lancet diet was developed and evaluated.
Background: Healthy eating during pregnancy has favorable effects on glycemic control and is associated with a lower risk of gestational diabetes mellitus (GDM). According to Diabetes Canada, there is a need for an effective and acceptable intervention that could improve glucose homeostasis and support pregnant individuals at risk for GDM.
Aims: This unicentric randomized controlled trial (RCT) aims to evaluate the effects of a nutritional intervention initiated early in pregnancy, on glucose homeostasis in 150 pregnant individuals at risk for GDM, compared to usual care.
Objective: Improving care transitions for older adults can reduce emergency department (ED) visits, adverse events, and empower community autonomy. We conducted an inductive qualitative content analysis to identify themes emerging from comments to better understand ED care transitions.
Methods: The LEARNING WISDOM prospective longitudinal observational cohort includes older adults (≥ 65 years) who experienced a care transition after an ED visit from both before and during COVID-19.
Purpose: Prematurely born children are at risk of numerous complications that affect the visual system. Retinopathy of prematurity (ROP) and cerebral visual impairment (CVI) are among two major causes of childhood blindness and visual impairment in industrialized nations, and large countries with emerging economies are seeing increasing childhood blindness from ROP alone, adding to the burden of disease worldwide. The purpose of this paper is to review the long-term impacts of prematurity, ROP and CVI on vision in children who were born preterm.

The theory of planned behavior (TPB) is effective in identifying the determinants of adopting a healthy diet. The objectives were to identify the determinants of the intention to adopt a healthy diet among the TPB constructs in women with (GDM+) and without (GDM-) a history of GDM, and to identify the beliefs associated with these constructs.

Home Based Cardiac Rehabilitation (HBCR) is a form of Cardiac Rehabilitation (CR) which has been proven beneficial for the patients with cardiovascular disease; However, cardiovascular outcomes in patients with HF who was referred to HBCR is not known.
Methods: A retrospective study of 188 patients with HF (HFrEF or heart failure with reduced ejection fraction and HFpEF or heart failure with preserved ejection fraction) referred to HBCR at Veterans Affairs Medical Center (VAMC) from November 2017 to March 2020.
Introduction: Many dietary guidelines promote the substitution of animal proteins with plant-based proteins for health benefits but also to help transitioning toward more sustainable dietary patterns. The aim of this study was to examine the food and nutrient characteristics as well as the overall quality and costs of dietary patterns consistent with lower intakes of animal-based protein foods and with higher intakes of plant-based protein foods among French Canadian adults.
Methods: Dietary intake data, evaluated with 24 h recalls, from 1,147 French-speaking adults of the PRÉDicteurs Individuels, Sociaux et Environnementaux (PREDISE) study conducted between 2015 and 2017 in Québec were used.
Background: Folate and vitamin B12 status during pregnancy are important for maternal and neonatal health. Maternal intake and prepregnancy body mass index (ppBMI) can influence biomarker status.
Objectives: This study aimed to, throughout pregnancy; 1) assess folate and B12 status including serum total folate, plasma total vitamin B12, and homocysteine (tHcy); 2) examine how these biomarkers are associated with intakes of folate and B12 and with ppBMI; and 3) determine predictors of serum total folate and plasma total vitamin B12.
