Objectives: To assess the therapeutic effects and safety of Tongxie Yaofang (TXYF) granules vs placebo as an alternative treatment for diarrhoea-predominant irritable bowel syndrome (IBS-D). We hypothesised that TXYF would improve clinical responses among patients with IBS-D.
Design: A randomised, double-blind, placebo-controlled, phase II, superiority trial.
The haemorrhage of psychiatrists from the NSW state-funded mental health system parallels losses throughout Australia, and internationally. The lack of workforce cripples the capacity to provide adequate care. There has been persistently neglectful under-resourcing of the care of people with severe mental illness.

Objectives: To systematically evaluate the therapeutic effects and safety of adding TXL to Western medical treatment (WM) for CCS.
It has been challenging to test how proteins acquire specific metals in cells. The speciation of metalation is thought to depend on the preferences of proteins for different metals competing at intracellular metal-availabilities. This implies mis-metalation may occur if proteins become mis-matched to metal-availabilities in heterologous cells.

Anticipated changes in sea ice thickness and snow load due to climate change may cause substantial shifts in available light to these ice-associated organisms. This study used a laboratory-based experiment to investigate how light levels, simulating different sea ice and snow thicknesses, affect fatty acid (FA) composition in two ice associated microalgae species, the pennate diatom Nitzschia cf.

Using iodine as our reference halogen atom, a comprehensive analysis of the tendencies for halogen and other forms of significant sigma hole bonding by simple compounds of main group atoms from H to At is accomplished. An examination of the structure and bonding of complexes formed by those iodine-substituted main group compounds and sigma donating bases (ammonia and trimethylamine) is performed to probe the viability of halogen bonding by heavy main group RM-I compounds in particular, given the historic focus on period 2.

In agriculture, soil colour provides farmers and advises with a visual guide to interpret soil functions and performance. Munsell colour charts have been used to determine soil colour for many years, but the process is fallible, as it depends on the user's perception.

One tool to achieve this are cabled seafloor observatories that can collect continual streams of environmental and biological data as long as the equipment is maintained. Here, we used 10-years of time-lapse images (every 30 mins) from the OBSEA seafloor cabled observatory located at 20 m depth, four km offshore from Vilanova i la Geltrú (Spain) coast, to characterize temporal trends in fish community dynamics.

The patient suffered an intraoperative type B dissection with lower extremity malperfusion managed with an axillary-bifemoral extra-anatomic bypass.

We present a case report of a 22-year-old male who was incidentally found to have anomalous pulmonary vein drainage into the innominate vein. The patient had a known history of seizures and was brought to the emergency department following a simple tonic-clonic seizure.

The collective experience of 'Project Engage' involved co-designing resources to support bereaved parents' involvement in research.
Methods: This study aimed to describe and evaluate the involvement of bereaved parents as co-investigators of a stillbirth research project.
Shengmai San (SMS) is a traditional Chinese medicine formula used for supplementing and and can mitigate symptoms related to malignant arrhythmia and heart failure. This systematic review aimed at exploring the effectiveness and safety of SMS for viral myocarditis (VMC). Eight databases from their inception to June 2023 were searched to identified randomized controlled trials (RCTs) focusing on SMS for VMC.

Here, we used animal-borne cameras to characterize the behavior and dive duration of juvenile green turtles () in The Bahamas for up to 210 min after biologger deployment ( = 58). For a "control," we used unoccupied aerial vehicles (UAVs) to collect comparable data from nonhandled green turtles ( = 25) in the same habitats.

However, snRNA-seq poses high costs and technical limitations, often requiring the pooling of independent biological samples and loss of individual sample-level data. Deconvolution of sample identity using inherent features would enable the incorporation of pooled barcoding and sequencing protocols, thereby increasing data throughput and analytical sample size without requiring increases in experimental sample size and sequencing costs.

Recently, a significant number of clinical studies on Dachaihu decoction for acute cholecystitis (AC) have been published. This study was conducted to assess the efficacy and safety of Dachaihu decoction in patients with this condition.

The Gunung Palung Orangutan Conservation Program (GPOCP) employs diverse strategies, including environmental education, to address these challenges. Environmental education helps to connect local students with conservation efforts, educate them about endangered endemic species, and highlight the relationship between human behavior and ecosystem health.

This observation, in conjunction with similar reports worldwide, corroborates that terrestrial leaves may be a common food item for green turtles in areas near mangrove forests or coastal deciduous trees. Our observation also indicates that male turtles may feed during reproductive periods if food is available.

Academic remediation programs tend to be institution-specific, and their impact on student success is uncommonly interrogated using rigorous objective assessment. This study investigated the deployment of an academic development program (ADP) in the second semester of the Doctor of Veterinary Medicine (DVM) Program.

Drug resistance caused by the efflux of chemotherapeutic drugs is one of the most challenging obstacles to successful cancer therapy. Several efflux transporters have been identified since the discovery of the P-gp/ABCB1 transporter in 1976. Over the last four decades, researchers have focused on developing efflux transporter inhibitors to overcome drug resistance.
