Background: Thyrotoxic periodic paralysis (TPP) is a rare and most often acquired subtype of hypokalemic periodic paralysis. The association of varying degrees of muscle weakness, hyperthyroidism and hypokalemia characterizes it. The treatment requires potassium supplementation, control of hyperthyroidism and prevention measures.
