Children 6-9 years old were enrolled at Time 1 (T1), with follow-up data obtained ~ 18 months later at Time 2 (T2), and ~ 36 months later at Time 3 (T3). Findings suggested an initial period of rapid auditory cortex maturation in autism, earlier than TD (prior to and surrounding the T1 exam), followed by a period of faster maturation in TD than autism (T1-T3).

Methods & Procedures: English scientific peer-reviewed articles from PubMed, CINAHL, Embase, and PsycINFO between 2000 and 2020 were first screened by title and abstract, then those selected underwent full-text review and analysis.
Main Outcomes & Results: The database search yielded 1640 results and after title and abstract review, 75 articles were selected for full-text screening, from which 8 were included in the qualitative synthesis.

Context: With the current Centers for Disease Control and Prevention recommendations for mask use to minimize transmission of coronavirus 2019 (COVID-19) coupled with concern for future pandemics that would require mask wearing, providing data-driven guidance with respect to athletic performance is essential.
Objective: The purpose of this study was to perform a systematic review of existing literature on the use of face masks while exercising to assess the physiologic effects of face masks worn during athletic activities.
Data Sources: A systematic review was conducted of studies on face mask use during exercise according to Preferred Reporting Items for Systematic Reviews and Meta-analyses (PRISMA) guidelines.
Background: Antimicrobial use (AMU) is a key driver of antimicrobial resistance (AMR). There are few data on AMU, to inform optimizing antibiotic stewardship, in the Lao PDR (Laos).
Methods: Point prevalence surveys (PPS) of AMU were conducted at four-month intervals in six general hospitals across Laos from 2017 to 2020, using modified Global-PPS data collection tools.

Background: At rest, 8 to 12 Hz alpha rhythms are the dominant rhythm in the brain, with a common peak alpha frequency (PAF = the frequency at which alpha generators show maximum power) observed across brain regions. Although a common PAF across brain regions should result in high between-region connectivity, especially connectivity measures assessing the phase-similarity between alpha generators, high inter-regional alpha connectivity has not been observed. The present study was conducted as an initial step toward identifying mechanisms that allow brain regions to maintain functional independence in the presence of a common PAF.

We examined frequencies of radiation-induced chromosomal aberrations, using classical cytological methods, and DNA damage in interphase and metaphase cells, using a combination of FISH, CO-FISH, TIF (telomere dysfunction induced assay) and simultaneous detection of DNA damage and telomeric sequences in metaphase chromosomes, in Chinese hamster cells defective in BRCA2 and control cells. Given that the Chinese hamster genome contains large blocks of interstitial telomeric sites, our results allow us to examine the role of BRCA2 in the potential fragility of these sites, but also whether BRCA2 affects DNA repair within terminal telomeric sequences. BRCA2 defective cells exhibited greater frequencies of DNA damage within interstitial telomeric sites, as well as within terminal telomeric sites, relative to control cells.
