This study aimed to evaluate the level of oral health knowledge among teachers in a city of the Brazilian Amazon region (Belem, Pará) and explore the association between teachers' knowledge and their proposed actions in the event of dental trauma accidents within the school environment. The descriptive cross-sectional study involved 170 elementary teachers from public schools in the Metropolitan Region of Belem, Para State, Brazil. A self-administered questionnaire with multiple-choice questions was utilized to assess teachers' oral health knowledge across various domains.

The use of natural products such as essential oils has been suggested due to their promising pharmacological effects and economic viability. This study aimed to determine hydrogenic potential (pH), titratable acidity (TA), and ion concentrations of five solutions containing essential oils (EO), when used as a EO-containing solutions, and evaluate ion concentrations, enamel surface loss, and morphology alterations in enamel. The pH, TA, calcium (Ca), potassium (K), and sodium (Na) concentrations of five EO-containing solutions were measured.

Background: Methylmercury (MeHg) is a potent toxicant able to harm human health, and its main route of contamination is associated with the consumption of contaminated fish and other seafood. Moreover, dental amalgams are also associated with mercury release on human saliva and may contribute to the accumulation of systemic mercury. In this way, the oral cavity seems to be the primary location of exposure during MeHg contaminated food ingestion and dental procedures but there is a lack of literature about its effects on dental tissues and the impact of this toxicity on human health.

Background: Non-carious cervical lesions (NCCLs) have shown a significant incidence and prevalence and have been increasingly associated with people's lifestyles and youths. This cross-sectional study aimed to determine the prevalence of NCCLs in footballers and to address potential risk indicators.

Methods: Fourty-three male semi-professional footballers with an average of 27 years old completed a questionnaire and were subjected to intraoral examination in terms of cervical tooth wear, morphological characteristics of NCCLs, tooth sensitivity, occlusal/incisal wear, and malocclusion classification.

The purpose of this study was to analyze in vitro the biological effects on human dental pulp stem cells triggered in response to substances leached or dissolved from two experimental cements for dental pulp capping. The experimental materials, based on extracts from Ducke (COP), were compared to calcium hydroxide [Ca(OH)] and mineral trioxide aggregate (MTA), materials commonly used for direct dental pulp capping in restorative dentistry. For this, human dental pulp stem cells were exposed to COP associated or not with Ca(OH) or MTA.

This study evaluated the osteogenic differentiation of human dental pulp stem cells in response to substances released by the pulp capping agents, Biodentine (BD), mineral trioxide aggregate (MTA) and two-paste calcium hydroxide cement (CHC), along with their physicochemical characteristics. The dimensional stability test showed that of the materials studied, only BD met the standards recommended by the International Organization for Standardization (ISO) for pulp capping materials and thus can be used safely. In the chemical tests, BD was the most stable material.

Background: The regeneration of integrity and tissue homeostasis after injury is a fundamental property and involves complex biological processes fully dynamic and interconnected. Although there are medications prescribed to accelerate the process of wound healing by reducing the exaggerated inflammatory response, comes the need to search for different compounds of Amazonian biodiversity that can contribute to the acceleration of the healing process. Among these products, the copaiba oil-resin is one of the most prominent feature in this scenario, as they have been reported its medicinal properties.

Background: Dental whitening has been increasingly sought out to improve dental aesthetics, but may cause chemical and morphological changes in dental enamel surfaces.

Objective: Assess the effects of high-concentration hydrogen peroxide with and without fluoride on human dental enamel using the ion chromatography test (IC) and the Knoop hardness test (KHN).

Material And Methods: Nineteen enamel specimens were prepared using third human molars.

Objective: This study aimed to conduct a systematic review of the literature published from 2000 to August 2015, to investigate the effect of photobiomodulation (PBM) therapy on dentoalveolar-derived mesenchymal stem cells (ddMSCs), assessing whether a clear conclusion can be reached from the data presented.

Background Data: Systematic reviews provide the best evidence on the effectiveness of a procedure and permit investigation of factors that may influence the performance of a method. To the best of our knowledge, no previous systematic review has evaluated the effects of PBM only on ddMSCs.

This study evaluated the influence of the irradiation with a short-pulse Er:YAG laser on the adhesion of composite resin to sound and eroded dentin (SD and ED). Forty-six samples of occlusal dentine, obtained from human molars, had half of their surface protected, while the other half was submitted to erosive cycles. Afterward, 23 samples were irradiated with Er:YAG laser, resulting in four experimental groups: SD, sound irradiated dentine (SID—Er:YAG, 50  μs 50  μs , 2 Hz, 80 mJ, and 12.

Hyposalivation and dental root exposure in the elderly are problems that require special oral care. In this context, the characteristics of certain toothpastes are of particular importance. Thus, the aim of this study was to evaluate the cytotoxicity and dentin wear caused by seven different toothpastes.
