View Article and Find Full Text PDFPurpose: Identifying the target region is critical for successfully treating ventricular tachycardia (VT) with single fraction stereotactic arrhythmia radioablation (STAR). We report the feasibility of target definition based on direct co-registration of electroanatomic maps (EAM) and radioablation planning images.
Materials And Methods: The EAM consists of 3D cardiac anatomy representation with electrical activity at endocardium and is acquired by a cardiac electrophysiologist (CEP) during electrophysiology study.
We studied by means of echocardiography and cardiac MRI (CMR) the occurrence of an accessory papillary muscle that unites mostly the left ventricle (LV) apex with the basal antero-septum in the immediate vicinity of left ventricle outflow tract (LVOT) in patients with and without hypertrophic cardiomyopathy (HOCM). . We included all good quality echocardiography and CMR studies as reviewed by two cardiologists and assessed the occurrence of a contractile papillary muscle situated between the LV apex and antero-septum.

This paper has been thought to point out the limits in the new criteria specificity as well in the application of the new criteria for the diagnosis of pericarditis as recently demonstrated by studies based on cardiac magnetic resonance imaging. We report the case of A 18y old male with no significant past medical history who presented with complaints of chest pain typical for pericarditis, initially labeled as pericarditis; the patient was evaluated by electrocardiography, trans-thoracic echocardiography and cardiac magnetic resonance imaging; the condition, based on electrocardiogram and trans-thoracic echocardiography findings, was labeled as pericarditis in keeping with current diagnostic criteria.

In this study, the authors investigated the impact of MRI on the functional integrity of non-conditional CIEDs and their clinical correlates.
Methods: In this prospective, observational single-center study, we enrolled patients undergoing MRI over a 5-year period.
Background: Diffuse cardiac fibrosis is an important factor in the prognostic assessment of patients with ventricular dysfunction. Cardiovascular magnetic resonance imaging (CMR) native T1 mapping is highly sensitive and considered an independent predictor of all-cause mortality and heart failure (HF) development in patients with cardiomyopathy.
Objectives: To evaluate the feasibility of native T1 mapping assessment in patients with HF in a cardiology referral hospital and its association with structural parameters and functional profile.
Background: After successful pulmonary vein isolation (PVI) for atrial fibrillation (AF), the left atrium (LA) undergoes reverse remodeling. However, few studies have directly studied pulmonary vein (PV) remodeling and focused on whether pre PVI-PV conditions could predict outcome of the procedure. We hypothesize that: (I) post PVI, in addition to LA remodeling the PVs undergo a parallel degree of remodeling; and (II) that PV characteristics pre PVI can be used to identify patients more likely to sustain normal sinus rhythm (NSR).

Background: We introduce an algorithmic approach to optimize diagnostic and prognostic value of gated cardiac single photon emission computed tomography (SPECT) and magnetic resonance (MR) myocardial perfusion imaging (MPI) modalities in women with suspected myocardial ischemia. The novel approach: bio-informatics assessment schema (BIAS) forms a mathematical model utilizing MPI data and cardiac metrics generated by one modality to predict the MPI status of another modality. Depressed MWCS is an adverse prognostic indicator, but whether this finding reflects reduced global or regional LV myocardial function, as assessed by three-dimensional (3D) myocardial strain, is unknown.

Objective: Invasive cardiac catheterization is the venerable "gold standard" for diagnosing constrictive pericarditis. Cardiac magnetic resonance is well-established as a robust modality of cardiovascular imaging, providing superior resolution, infinite imaging planes, and the ability to obtain multiple types of information without ionizing radiation.
