- In Spring 2020, the Milwaukee Regional Medical Center (MRMC) began transitioning its protective services from the Milwaukee County Sheriff's Department to the Wauwatosa Police Department (WPD) amidst national discussions on policing.
- During this transition, MRMC formed the Ad Hoc Advisory Committee for the Transition of Protective Services (AATOPS) to develop recommendations on key areas including diversity, psychological evaluations, use of force, and communication regarding the changes.
- By the end of the year-long transition, MRMC and WPD committed to maintaining a collaborative partnership focused on the safety and security of everyone on the MRMC campus.
