Objectives: This case series describes adults with aquaporin 4 immunoglobulin G-seropositive (AQP4-IgG+) neuromyelitis optica spectrum disorder (NMOSD) who switched treatment from eculizumab to satralizumab.
Methods: Case information for patients with AQP4-IgG+ NMOSD who received satralizumab for ≥6 months was obtained from US healthcare providers from April 2022 to January 2024. Patient characteristics, examination findings, diagnostic test results, treatment response, and adverse events were recorded.
The structure and evolution of Pd species in Pd-exchanged zeolite materials intended for use as passive NO adsorbers were examined under various pretreatment conditions. Using in situ CO-diffuse reflectance infrared spectroscopy, Pd structures were characterized after 500 °C pretreatments in inert (Ar), water (1-2% HO in Ar), oxidizing (air), and reducing (H, CO) atmospheres. Two zeolites of similar Si/Al ratios but different framework topologies (Beta, CHA) were found to show different distributions of Pd species, depending on the reducing agent used.

A novel cyclic flow photobioreactor, designed for the capture and recycle of CO using microalgae, was deployed at a coal-fired power plant. Scenedesmus acutus was cultured continuously for a four-month period, during which a biomass productivity of 0.1-0.

This study investigated whether DypB, the lignin-degrading peroxidase from Rodococcus jostii, depolymerizes lignin and reduces recalcitrance in transgenic tobacco (Nicotiana benthamiana). The protein was targeted to the cytosol or the ER using ER-targeting and retention signal peptides.

We investigated to identify the source and prevent additional infections. We reviewed medical records, interviewed the index patient regarding hepatitis B risk factors, performed HBV molecular analysis, and observed infection control practices at the outpatient hemodialysis facility where she received care.

Methods: Using data from the 2007-2010 National Ambulatory Medical Care Surveys (NAMCS), we estimated headache neuroimaging utilization (cross-sectional). Multivariable logistic regression was used to explore associations between patient-level factors and neuroimaging utilization.
A gram-scale catalytic enantioselective formal synthesis of morphine is described. The key steps of the synthesis involve an ortho-para oxidative phenolic coupling and a highly diastereoselective "desymmetrization" of the resulting cyclohexadienone that generates three of the four morphinan ring junction stereocenters in one step. The stereochemistry is controlled from a single carbinol center installed through catalytic enantioselective hydrogenation.

Direct analysis in real time mass spectrometry (DART-MS) was used to analyze ionic liquids (ILs) containing either imidazolium or phosphonium cations combined with different types of inorganic and organic anions. Ionic liquids were directly inserted into the ionization source using a glass probe without dissolution into organic solvents. Mass spectra of the ILs were collected in both positive and negative mode with a linear ion-trap instrument.

Cyclin-dependent protein kinases (CDKs) are central to the appropriate regulation of cell proliferation, apoptosis, and gene expression. Abnormalities in CDK activity and regulation are common features of cancer, making CDK family members attractive targets for the development of anticancer drugs. Here, we report the identification of a pyrazolo[1,5-a]pyrimidine derived compound, 4k (BS-194), as a selective and potent CDK inhibitor, which inhibits CDK2, CDK1, CDK5, CDK7, and CDK9 (IC₅₀= 3, 30, 30, 250, and 90 nmol/L, respectively).

Methods: This assay utilizes an integrated matrix-assisted laser desorption ionization-time of flight (MALDI-TOF) mass spectrometry system.
Results: CF testing was performed on over 5,000 individuals, including a 3-year-old Hispanic-American patient with a compound heterozygous G542X/3199del6 genotype.
Seeds collected from parents that flowered at different times were dispersed onto experimental plots at different times during the normal dispersal season. Parental flowering and dispersal times, which are correlated with each other, independently affected offspring germination, growth, and time of reproduction. Estimated population growth rates were highest for offspring that were dispersed early in the dispersal season and that came from early flowering parents.
