Unlabelled: Effective utilization of evidence-based medicine requires skillful development of a critical literature evaluation process. Although traditional journal club activities are a common modality to teach and refine these skills, they may limit a learner's motivation to perform a well-rounded critique of primary literature.

Innovation: In response to the challenges with these traditional formats, we describe a novel approach to refining critical literature evaluation skills in an Advanced Pharmacy Practice Experience (APPE) setting utilizing a focused, article-centric journal club debate.

Bronchodilator drugs are the foundation for the treatment of chronic obstructive pulmonary disease. The principal inhaled bronchodilator treatments used are β(2) -agonists and anticholinergics, either alone or in combination. Currently available β(2) -agonists are of either short duration and used multiple times/day, or of long duration, which requires twice-daily administration.

Objective: The purposes of this study were to assess the degree of patellotrochlear chondral overlap (patellotrochlear index), correlate it with the Insall-Salvati and modified Insall-Salvati indexes, and determine the association between these measurements and patellofemoral chondral defects.

Materials And Methods: Sagittal 1.5-T and 3-T MR images of 100 consecutively registered patients with symptoms were analyzed, and the Insall-Salvati index, modified Insall-Salvati index, patellotrochlear index, and patellophyseal index (ratio of the height of patella above the physeal line to the length of the patellar articular cartilage) were calculated.

In this report the authors describe a case of internal carotid artery (ICA) dissection following a blunt posterior pharynx injury and review current literature on the identification and treatment of such disorders. An ICA dissection developed in a 6-year-old boy who had suffered blunt injury to the posterior pharynx and who was followed up via computed tomography (CT) angiography and clinic visits for 6 months. The ICA dissection healed with pseudoaneurysm development and was treated with anticoagulation therapy.
