Sonic Hedgehog (Shh) regulates epithelial cell differentiation in the adult stomach. Proteasomes degrade most proteins in mammalian cells and are established targets of anticancer drugs. All eukaryotic proteasomes have three types of active sites: chymotrypsin-like, trypsin-like, and caspase-like.
