Objective: Identify factors associated with persistent sexual dysfunction and pain 12-months postpartum in an underserved population.

Methods: Extending Maternal Care After Pregnancy (eMCAP) is a program addressing health needs/disparities of patients at risk for worse perinatal outcomes. Participants completed the Pelvic Organ Prolapse/Urinary Incontinence Sexual Questionnaire (PISQ-12) and Urinary Distress Index (UDI-6) 12-months postpartum.

Background: Point-of-care (POC) tests for sexually transmitted infections (STIs) permit delivery of results during the patient's emergency department (ED) encounter. We evaluated performance, patient acceptability, and feasibility of a new duplex POC test, Chembio Dual Path Platform HIV-Syphilis Assay, in an urban ED setting.

Methods: Convenience sampling approach prioritizing those considered at increased risk for an STI and/or with a history of HIV.

Importance: Urinary incontinence is a common postpartum morbidity that negatively affects quality of life.

Objective: This study aimed to identify factors associated with persistent (ie, 12 months postpartum) bothersome urinary symptoms, including stress urinary incontinence (SUI) and urgency urinary incontinence (UUI), and explore their association with mental health in medically underserved communities.

Study Design: This was a cross-sectional analysis of a prospective study of individuals enrolled into "extending Maternal Care After Pregnancy," a program providing 12 months of postpartum care to individuals with health disparities.

Optogenetics has revolutionized neurosciences by allowing fine control of neuronal activity. An important aspect for this control is assessing the activation and/or adjusting the stimulation, which requires imaging the entire volume of optogenetically-induced neuronal activity. An ideal technique for this aim is fUS imaging, which allows one to generate brain-wide activation maps with submesoscopic spatial resolution.

Immunoglobulin A vasculitis (IgA vasculitis) is a small-vessel vasculitis usually triggered by bacterial or viral infections, antibiotics, and vaccinations. Although it is a disease of the pediatric population, it can occur in adults as well. We present a case of IgA vasculitis that was triggered by underlying infective endocarditis (IE).

Cocaine is associated with a wide array of complications through a number of different mechanisms. Although the majority of cocaine-related morbidity has been attributed to complications in arterial vasculature, the deleterious impact of venous complications appears to be largely unrepresented in current literature as well as clinical practice despite emerging evidence of the high prevalence and annual incidence of deep vein thrombosis (DVT) in illicit drug users. Our case report illustrates an uncharacteristic presentation of cocaine-related widespread thrombotic cascade involving both arterial and venous circulations causing significant morbidity.

Background: Hyperoxia triggers the release of toxic reactive oxygen species (ROS). Pomegranate Juice (PJ) is a rich source of potent antioxidants. We assessed the effects of PJ supplementation on Acute Lung Injury (ALI) in adult rats exposed to hyperoxia for 5 days.

Introduction: Nonbacterial thrombotic endocarditis is a very rare complication of malignancy and other hypercoagulable states. It describes the deposition of small sterile smooth or verrucoid vegetations on the valve leaflets, causing a clinical picture similar to that of bacterial endocarditis. The authors reported this case because this is a rare and unusual first manifestation of malignancy generally and of gastric cancer particularly, with only a few reports present in the literature.
