Objective: To analyze risk factors for sickness absence due to mental disorders among judicial workers in Bahia, Brazil.
Methods: Retrospective cohort with follow-up from 2011 to 2016 with 2,660 workers of a judicial sector in Bahia, Brazil. The main outcome measures were survival curves estimated for the independent variables using the Kaplan-Meier product limit estimator and risk factors for the first episode of sickness absence calculated based on the Cox regression model.
This essay aims to discuss the flexibilization of work, which has been accentuated during the COVID-19 pandemic, leading to an expansion of precarious work. Additionally, the essay seeks to explore theoretical models and methodological challenges for the study of precarious work, its dimensions, and its effects on workers' health. The health and economic crisis has heightened the social vulnerability of workers, introduced by the global flexibilization and the Brazilian Labor Reform.

Objectives: To identify risk factors for absenteeism due to musculoskeletal disease in employees at a judiciary court and to describe incidence, frequency, and duration of sick leaves.
Methods: This is a 6-year follow-up study conducted in the state of Bahia, Brazil.
This cross-sectional study investigated the association between self-reported race/skin color and two outcomes - psychosocial demand and physical demand at work - in 1,032 workers in an urban cleaning services company and two footwear manufacturers, located in the State of Bahia, Brazil. Psychosocial demand was measured through the Job Content Questionnaire and physical demand was measured through questions about postures and cargo handling. A Cox regression analysis provided prevalence ratios (PR) adjusted by age, gender, and educational level.

Objective: Studies point to a complex and multifactorial aetiology for sickness absence, but there is still insufficient evidence on how occupational and non-occupational risk factors contribute to this phenomenon. This study aimed to identify occupational and non-occupational factors related to sickness absence in oil industry workers, as well as their population attributable fractions (PAF).
Methods: A retrospective cohort study of 2028 oil industry workers was conducted in the state of Bahia, Brazil, between January 1, 2012 and December 31, 2016.
This essay discusses the repercussions of the COVID-19 pandemic on the relation between labor and health, from the perspective of the workers' risk and vulnerability. The pandemic has represented a humanitarian crisis, since both the disease and the measures to contain it lead to persistent socioeconomic effects. In this context, the labor category has an important role, either because of the feasibility of maintaining the social distancing and living conditions allowed by the employment relationship, or because of the impossibility of adopting protection strategies due to job insecurity.

Objective: To characterize motorcycle accident victims and circumstances among patients admitted to a public hospital.
Background: Physical activity, each type in its own manner, whether occupational, domestic or leisure, can play a significant role regarding high blood pressure (HBP). However, practicing physical activity only at leisure time, or in specific situations, can be insufficient to achieve the effective control of HBP.
Objective: To analyze the isolated and cumulative effect of different types of physical activity and the prevalence of HBP among workers.
This study sought to analyze the dimensionality of a set of items that measure work-related physical demand, their internal consistency and their test-retest reliability. We carried out an exploratory factorial analysis of ten physical demand items in two populations, totaling 1,070 workers from the footwear industry and from urban cleaning, using weighted least squares means and adjusted variance with Promax oblique rotation. We measure internal consistency using Cronbach's alpha.

However, less is known about determinants of this multimorbidity, particularly, concerning the role of occupational factors and, mainly, what determines single or multisite pain. This study described the associations between pain in different body sites and investigated related factors to MP in workers from Brazil.

Purpose: Despite the apparent importance of multisite musculoskeletal pain (MMP) for functioning, there is still a lack of studies that have investigated the influence of MMP on healthcare utilization (HU), sickness absence (SA) and restrictions of work (RW). This study described the HU, SA and RW due to musculoskeletal pain (MP) in different body sites and according to number of pain sites and investigated associations between number of pain sites with these three outcomes in workers from Bahia, Brazil.
Methods: This study was based on two cross-sectional surveys carried out in 2010 and 2012.
Objective: To translate, adapt, and validate the "Community Integration Questionnaire (CIQ)," a tool that evaluates community integration after traumatic brain injury (TBI).
Methods: A study of 61 TBI survivors was carried out. The appraisal of the measurement equivalence was based on a reliability assessment by estimating inter-rater agreement, item-scale correlation and internal consistency of CIQ scales, concurrent validity, and construct validity.
A cross-sectional study investigated the association between self-reported physical fitness and musculoskeletal disorders in the neck, shoulder, or upper back among workers in 14 plastics factories in Salvador, Bahia State, Brazil. Physical fitness was assessed on a scale from 0 to 5. Cases were defined as self-reported pain in the previous 12 months, lasting more than a week or having monthly minimum frequency, with restrictions at work or seeking medical care, or where respondents' severity was greater than 2 (on a scale from 0 to 5).
