Objectives: This large database analysis aims to describe the incidence, timeline, and risk factors for viral and fungal infections after chimeric antigen receptor (CAR) T-cell therapy.
Methods: We queried a global research network database, TriNetX, for patients who received CAR T-cell therapy, who were identified and followed for the development of viral and fungal infections. Baseline demographic, oncologic history, laboratory data and medication histories were collected.
Objective: Serial procalcitonin (PCT) monitoring has been adopted to supplement clinical judgement and help guide antibiotic therapy as part of antimicrobial stewardship programs. PCT levels peak 24 to 48 h after infection onset and decline with infection resolution. We explored the role of PCT as an infection biomarker for guiding antibiotic therapy in cancer patients hospitalized for febrile neutropenia.

Respiratory viral infections (RVIs) are of major clinical importance in immunocompromised patients and represent a substantial cause of morbidity and mortality in patients with hematologic malignancies and those who have undergone hematopoietic cell transplantation. Similarly, patients receiving immunotherapy with CD19-targeted chimeric antigen receptor-modified T cells, natural killer cells, and genetically modified T-cell receptors are susceptible to RVIs and progression to lower respiratory tract infections. In adoptive cellular therapy recipients, this enhanced susceptibility to RVIs results from previous chemotherapy regimens such as lymphocyte-depleting chemotherapy conditioning regimens, underlying B-cell malignancies, immune-related toxicities, and secondary prolonged, profound hypogammaglobulinemia.

This study aims to determine whether there are differences in epidemiologic characteristics and clinical outcomes among individuals with COVID-19 among these communities.
Methods: This was a retrospective analysis of 155 patients admitted to a single-center tertiary academic hospital located in Augusta, Georgia, with a large proportion of hospitalized patients transferred from or residing in rural and urban counties.
Background: Candida bloodstream infection (BSI) remains one of the leading causes of BSI in critically ill and immunosuppressed cancer patients. In light of the changing epidemiology and rising resistant species, duration of treatment and appropriate timing of stepdown therapy from intravenous (IV) to oral antifungal agents are crucial for utmost disease control and overall survival.
Method: We performed a multicenter retrospective study, with 119 non-neutropenic patients enrolled from four different medical institutions in Brazil, Lebanon, Spain and the United States, to assess the duration of IV therapy and appropriate time to step-down to oral therapy in adult patients, 14 years of age and older, with documented candidemia.
Little is known about clinical presentation and cascade of care among patients living with HIV (PLWH) in Beirut, Lebanon. The escalating conflicts in the Middle East have been associated with the rapid collapse of the existing healthcare systems in affected countries.
