Article Synopsis
  • - GYNOCARE aims to assess biobanks for rare gynaecological tumours to standardize sample collection, data handling, and consent processes for improved cross-border research and clinical trials.
  • - Two digital surveys were conducted across seven European countries, revealing that while tissue and blood samples were commonly stored, there were significant variations in clinical data documentation and connections to national registries.
  • - The findings indicate inconsistencies in consent procedures and data management, highlighting the need for further research to unify practices across Europe for better collaboration in gynaecological cancer research.

Objective: Limited information is available on the incidence of rare thyroid cancer (TC) subtypes: anaplastic (ATC) and medullary (MTC). The aim of this study was to describe incidence variations and trends across European countries of all TC subtypes.

Materials And Methods: We used the RARECAREnet database including 80721 TC incident cases in the period 2000-2007 from 77 population-based cancer registries (CRs) in Europe.

Objective: To estimate the population-based incidence of first and multiple basal cell carcinomas (BCCs) throughout Europe.

Design: The registry practices of 4 population-based cancer registries that routinely register BCC incidence were evaluated for inclusion of first and subsequent histologically confirmed BCCs. Where multiple BCCs were not routinely registered, comparisons with hospital databases were made.
