Measurement issues when assessing quality of life outcomes for different types of hernia mesh repair.

Introduction: The NHS is required to collect data from patient reported outcome measures (PROMs) for inguinal hernia surgery. We explored the use of one such measure, the Carolinas Comfort Scale(®) (CCS), to compare long-term outcomes for patients who received two different types of mesh. The CCS questionnaire asks about mesh sensation, pain and movement limitations, and combines the answers into a total score.

A case report of an endoscopically removed colonic lipoma.

Management of colonic lipomas is still debated due to rarity and lack of long term data primarily. We report a case of colonic lipoma removed endoscopically with synchronous polypectomy. This report discusses the various aspects to consider how to manage this neoplasia.

[Response rates following neoadjuvant chemotherapy and breast preserving treatment in patients with locally advanced breast cancer].

Introduction: The neoadjuvant chemotherapy is increasingly being used in the treatment of patients with locally advanced breast cancer. We describe the hypothesis of the biological behaviour of breast cancer supporting the reason for the existence of this treatment. The improvement of neoadjuvant chemotherapy is being discussed as well as the advantages, disadvantages and problems of the treatment.
